sorry that i have been MIA guys. the internet has been on the blink at my house for almost two weeks :o. life without connection is soo weird lol.

i also have been lying low generally as have not been feeling too well since my PPH 2 weeks ago. apparently there is retained product sitting in there and doesnt want to come out. the hospital are saying that the size is borderline (must add, that i had to request an ultrasound at a private place after my IM advised it...public hossy while i was in there didnt want to do one) for a D&C. so now will wait another 2 weeks. i am kinda happy that i get time to try to coax it out naturally...but boy is it taking its toll on me physically. i am just so tired.
i am a bit bummed that it has taken away from my awesome happy feelings after the birth of DD3, but hopefully once it is gone and i get my energy back i will also bounce back.

Oh Cassius :( where have I been! Didn't know, glad all is ok now.
Totally get how taxing that is. Hope things are back to normal soon! :hug:

Wow, em you were amazing. I was cheering you and baby on. Did the torch annoy you at all during the labour?

Cassius, sorry you have been not well. Don't know if it the same, but I had cervical shock after ds and the placenta etc sttook awhile t to release. It was quite horrible feeling but this changed as soon as the bits came away. Hope your body can let go soon and you start to feel better. Liquid iron ( a veggie form) also helped me get strength back in the post partum period.

Had a couple reminders lately of how bad the hospital can be, which has made me reflect on how amazing ds' birth was for me. If only every woman experienced such love and respect at their births, imagine the effect that could have on the world.

HotI funny you should ask I remember it actually annoyed me when they turned it off which was weird considering I hate lights during labour and yet we end up moving to bathroom under the brightest heat lights as I hadn't prepared that room to birth in and that's only lighting there was and even funnier DS was born there Too under same bright lights as another last minute room change!

Argh em can't watch it on mobile. Will have to dig out the laptop lol!!

HotI, I know exactly what you mean by wishing every woman could experience that love. I remember at one point, DH was in the pool with me massaging my back, and one of my midwives was holding my hands, and she would kiss my hands at the peak of each contraction. It was exactly the sort of loving, reassuring gesture I needed and I never had to even say a word to her.

HotI: i have been in and out of the hospital twice now (for preterm labour and the PPH) and despite them being 'nice' and all, it is just nowhere near the same. like at all. you just cannot beat the attention and support of having an IM at home with you.

getting close to ds' first birthday, alot of reminiscing going on here.

i know a few melbournites had their plancentas encapsulated - can you pls pm me name of people who do it? got a mate interested.

I cannot believe that it has almost been a year HotI!! It does make you reminisce so much when you hit that milestone...

AFM: still bleeding here :( there doesnt appear to be any infection ATM so am happy, but will need a follow up scan on wednesday. i am hoping that it has all passed. cannot believe how medical my post natal journey has been! just want to be better and be able to think about the cool birth etc (havent really had a chance ITMS as have been so unwell etc :().
thank goodness we now have a HB mothers group at our local community gardens as I really feel the need to touch base with a HB crowd after all the hospital stuff.

Oh Cassius that sucks. How PP are you now? I bled for 7-8 weeks with Isla, it was terrible. I'm feeling over it now and I'm only 17 days PP and it's light :hug: Infections in the uterus are nasty and really knock you around, I had one that went untreated for a couple of months that ended up causing me a lot of my fertility problems and left me quite scarred, so although it sucks that your post-natal time has been so medical, at least you're kicking this infections butt now.

I am now almost 8 weeks PP...I tend to have long times anyway, but it is the PPH and the infection that really knocked me around this time.
I have to say, that yeah, i am so grateful that i have knocked it on its head so quickly; about 10 years ago i had missed miscarriage of a baby at 10 weeks and the OB/GYN fobbed me off (unplanned teenage pregnancy) and told me to get used to bleeding as it would last 2 months at least and he arrogantly declared that he wasnt going to do a D&C because i was 'too young'...WTF :o when i think back to that awful time I cannot believe it. but yeah it caused a lot of issues with my reproductive health (hence it was 23 months TTC DD!).

Cassius that is terrible :( I also didn't have a great post DS experience...but not as bad as what you have been through so I can only imagine :( how much blood did you lose with your PPH?
I had about a 800ml blood loss after DS and passed like huge clots the size of my hand in following days. Then had the retained products that even though a small amount was finally removed around 16weeks and then I started feeling a lot better. Hope everything sorts itself out soon and you can get on to feeling better and enjoying what a wonderful time this should be :hug:

So far i have lost around a litre...my IM believes that this is a conservative measure.

apparently they will not perform a D&C because the 'product' is only 15mm. i am not happy. but hopefully i have passed it now. have been taking homeopathic treatments and acupuncture now for it...here's hoping.

I had two small bits from memory around that I think or maybe it was 25mm I don't remember and can't check the report as DD thought she'd chew it up. Hope it has removed itself...
well they did make me wait awhile before they did the D&C!

I had another few days of a nervous wait for AF, but it seems the reason is that my LP has stretched to 14 days now, where it used to be 10-12. Usually 10. Guess this is a good thing if I can talk DP into TTC #3 in future, or maybe it doesn't make any difference given we already seem to be blessed in the fertility stakes.

Almost one year since my beautiful HB. I think I'll have my video posted to celebrate!

I'm still here... Pottering along.

Been having some interesting signs that things are getting ready to happen.

As it is, we don't have a Midwife so will be birthing this babe unassisted, depending on baby's gestation ofcourse. Have any of you heard of women birthing a pre-term baby at home?

Can't believe how little is left on my ticker!!

Exciting to think of another great HBing year!

I would have no idea about any birth complications that could arise from a slightly early baby. the thing i guess that would need to be watched are temp control and feeding past the 35 week mark. lots and lots and lots of skin to skin and i guess you might need to think about expressing and using a syringe to get the colostrum in as baby could be very very sleepy. considering that you are almost 36 weeks you and bubs are in pretty good standing. Our IMs can attend HB from 36 weeks. when i went into preterm labour at 34 weeks the hospy wouldnt even give steroid shots for lungs, and they told me it was mostly about temp and feeds.

Jennifer: oh gosh! that year has just flown by!! and 14 days is such a perfect LP! seems your body is so prepped for more baby making ;)

Talked to midwife about early babies. Often the first feed will be good, but subsequent feeds baby not as wakeful and so these can be trickier. One of her women was able to stay home after birthing at 35 weeks with constant kangaroo care for bub with Mum, and complete bedrest for mum and bub except for toilet stops for the first few weeks.

I had a slight 'am i pg?' moment, and the funny thing is the birth was the least worrisome thought of all. I know now how that can be, dealing with the pregnancy and then the baby after however....

HotI: I totally get what you mean hahaha! I LOVE birthing babies now! it is totally the coolest thing a human being can do IMHO. but yeah, the post birth thing of recovery and (for me) stress about PND etc and the whole newborn adjustment is another story hahaha.

Sara I think personally 36wk would be the absolute min I'd birth unassisted, I'm not sure if I would voluntarily until 37wks to be honest. And that's coming from someone who's babies ALL come early one over 6wks early & even though she technically had no health problems she was super duper sleepy and needed ebm as well as BFing for the first week and a half. This would have been much harder at home because we wouldnt have had a nasal-gastro tube inserted to syringe feed her when she wouldn't wake up. Obviously every baby is different and yes at nearly 36wks you're unlikely to have any real issues but certainly be good if he hangs in there a little longer :D

Afm I'm a little anxious lately, I may not get to hb again this time :( won't know for a while, at least until I have a repeat scan in a few weeks to see if baby is growing better than at anatomy scan. I'm definitely still hoping to keep an eye on things and if 'little girl' is doing well then ill aim for hb still but if its going to be safer for her to be born in hospital then I will go back to my old Ob (assuming he will take me on but we are good friends so I'd say hell do all he can to help).

Hi Everyone... hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. I am plodding along 19 weeks now, time seems to be going fast some days and slow others!!! I was wondering whether any of you have had a Lotus Birth experience you can share with me. I have had friends that have done it so will ask them also, but usually everyone has great little tips of what worked what didn't, so any experience would be appreciated.

I have never really been into LB before, but this baby really is sending me a strong message that this is part of the birth plan, so I am following it and seeing what happens.

HSM- I hope everything goes well with the next scan, when will that be?

36 weeks today so I'm happy to go ahead from here without any worry.

Started packing the birth box yesterday. Its exciting. Its also a surreal thought to think I'm going to finally hold another little baby in my arms again soon. I can't help but think of Reid though.

Mother Blessing is organised for the end of the month. Very late (I'll be in the 39th week) but its the only time it could be done with the women I wanted there. So I'm hoping I'll get to have it but we'll see. A friend will be doing my belly cast in the next week or so.

It also seems I finally have the full support of DP to birth unassisted now which is an obvious help. I feel much more positive of things with his support now. Before I had an air of doubt hovering around my head and now I realise why.

Sorry LBF, I have no experience in LB either. I'll also be eating mine :) The net is your oyster though. You'll find a wealth of information. Perhaps if you visit Joyous Birth forum you'll find more personal experiences if thats what you're after.

LBF, a fellow hbing mumma in my group had a lb. The IM helped prepare the placenta and it had a special bag. Don't know much more, I'm afraid! Lol

Happy birthing day to me! :leap: Although technically I did as much on the 3rd as the 4th. Basking in happy memories today and getting ready for a big party tomorrow.

Sara, not long now! Hope you have a lovely Mother Blessing. I imagine Reid will be as much a part of this birth as the rest of your family.

We had a little look at bubs today, placenta in a great spot and all looks good, i feel one step closer to starting to look towards the birth now!!! The girls are more excited too!!!!

LBF: hopefully there are some mamas in your circle that have some tips!

AFM: not being adequately listened to by the GP i was seeing so went back to my old GP (only seeing new GP because they do the collaborative agreements with IMs and is just down the road...wont do that again!) and he has sorted out a plan of action for me to get the much needed D&C as quickly as possible. cannot believe how much i need to beg the hospital to intervene...oh the irony :rofl:

I have a question for you all.... I have had shocking heartburn the last two days, i have been lucky to have only ever had it in one out of three pregnancies!! But i ate something really chilli and since then it has been so bad. Yesterday I took to drinking peppermint tea which helped I think, except it is SO hot here that I was sweating like a crazy person while I was drinking it. I tried it cold and it didn't seem to have the same affect. Has anyone else got some natural tips they can share? I will cut out sugar (boo hoo) and my bed is up on an angle... is there anything natural I can chew that you know of???

sorry LBF i have no idea! i had it on and off pretty bad with DD3 (avoided it with the other 2 pregnancies)...i ate some yoghurt in the evenings and that had some temporary relief, but because it wasnt awful bad just got away with that so didnt look too much further into it.

1/4 tsp bi carb soda mixed into watered down lemon juice or orange juice (about 1/4cup) and mix till it fizzes then drink. Try to cut out as much dairy as you can as that causes heartburn even though it may be soothing whilst drinking it.

Congrats WM, homebirth is the best :) if not support by a private midwife is also good!

Hey All! Haven't been around for a bit, but I just thought I'd pop in and say I'M BACK! :) :o Looks like Baby #7 will be joining us, if all goes well, in early September. :dance: Still slightly shocked, but also pretty excited. Will talk to the midwives on Monday, and hopefully schedule an ultrasound to nail down a more definite due date.

We'll be hb belly buddies then cricket. Congrats.
