    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20

Little man has been named "e d ward wi ll iam s t anley" .

I will write my birth story out soon, but basically is started when I woke at 2:40. It felt different and I got outta bed and timed some contractions on my phone. I knew it had started, but obviously it was early. I called the Mw at about 4:45, because I started passing fresh blood. Called back and asked them to come at about 5:30? They(Mw and photographer) got there around 6ish? Labour was really without a solid pattern, sometimes 3-4 mins apart sometimes 8 mins apart. When the Mw arrived, shortly after the kids woke up. We had some nice photos of the kids greeting me and I consciously knew labour would slow until everyone settled down. Then I retreated into bedroom. Labour picked up and then it really kicked on, with me dozing in between contractions. I then started to loose control. Back pain was terrible, I felt totally panicked. I could feel baby kicking out the front and freaked out, that he still hadn't turned and I was in for hours and hours of pain. I wanted out and kept hoping someone would save me. In the end, I asked for the water injections. I had those and things settled down for me. I was able to refocus. My doula for the kids wasn't able to make it so we had called my sister, and she really helped me at that point to refocus and calm down. I gave a voluntary push, and felt him move down and then the involuntary pushes started. I had a few contractions with pushes at the end and then I did a ve. It felt like I had another cervical lip. I asked my mw to check me as well. Mw suggested I needed to get onto my back again like I had done for my last birth to allow that to clear so I did(floating in the water). As soon as I did, pushing began in earnest. Dh had come back in with me and I had four solid pushing contractions before he was born. After two I really felt him come down strong into my peri, and told my sister to go get the girls. Then two more and he was born. The second stage was really really quick and despite me asking my Mw to catch, I am really grateful, that she stood back and told me that I could do it and to catch my baby. So I did! My Mw said my labour was typical op labour in that there wasn't a proper pattern, and that if I had have been assessed in a hospital situation, I would have been deemed not in labour, until the last 20mins.

I will write it up properly later, and give more details.

    So awesome, Bella!!

Cassius - not sure after DD1 (had Mirena put in), after DD2 it took 7 mths. But this bub is a really good night sleeper so it is possible that when she started sleeping 10 hrs things kicked off. Better get onto contraception. Bugger!

Bella: tried to inbox you but full. I'm Em*** C***** fill in the blanks surname is hot food lol

I'm going ok, life pretty busy. DH working extremely long hours and I'm pretty much doing everything on my own. So with little sleep this has been challenging.
I decided to come off antidepressants too due to lagging side effects. Haven't told anyone though except a few close friends (that includes Tegam). But mood wise I'm going ok. I encapsulated my placenta finally so that replacing them and doing well I think. Now if only babies were born with more than one placenta!
And sorry to those that are now reading this thinking she didn't tell me she was going off the meds. It's becaus I already faced judgement from some people and needed to show people I could do it before saying. I haven't even told my GP or my midwife who I trust heaps yet. I will in time just not yet. Except if on the off chance they are reading this lol then hi But I haven't even told DH yet.

Ah no, Tegam, not yet. The cycle itself wouldn't be so bad but I'm very afraid that it may have come with unintended consequences. DD3 is only four months. God help me... I'm second guessing everything but I'm too scared to take a test. It's just all feeling a little too familiar. I hope I'm just being paranoid.

Bella, E is so cute! How are you doing?

Tegam, how long now? I can't see a ticker via the app.

Eenee, I hope the switch off the ADs works for you. Xx

Oh Jen it is scary when you get so many symptoms. But TBH i reckon that while you are still intensively BF that there are cycles that mimic really closely a pg. I had to test a few weeks ago as it just didnt feel right and it was doing my head in...but it was negative! all the symptoms were crazily similar etc. I hope that it is just a hormonal adjustment of cycles for you xx

Oz: eeppp! So so excited! sending you many beautiful birth blessings. Not long to go...I am so jealous that you get to have a baby at home lol! I miss it!!

Have you guys seen that episode of 'home delivery'? it is the HB version of OBEM. it was SO AWESOME! of course only one episode was made. which is a real shame as it was just beautiful. i think you can youtube it?!

You really need to test Jen. Then you can put your mind at ease if it isn't pregnancy. If it is.... Well at least you can start to get your head around it..

Cass I watched home delivery a few months back, much better then any other birth show out there.

Jen I think you should test too.
