    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20

I am done, I am completely broken. Not sure if its the 10yr almost continuous pregnancy, breast feeding cycle or the fact that I am ten years older, but this pregnancy has been my far the hardest emotionally and physically I have faced. I do not want to be the mother I have been these past weeks ever again. I understand that it's a small sacrifice for the huge benefit of adding to the family, I know I am being harder on myself than necessary but I also think enough is enough. Time to enjoy this little bug and know that I achieved the large family I wanted. I will only be 36 when bug arrives but that was the upper age limit we had always set ourselves. And we started young to finish young.

32 weeks meow, you say that like it isn't far away....which scares me lol. But yes I believe that it would be best to save nesting until you are in your nest and all alone to make it yours. Sorry that your father is a negative energy.

SJ have you ridden your horse yet? Glad you are all feeling better.

I haven't ever done anything with my placenta, but seeing I have been so flat this pregnancy I have asked my MW for the name of the lady she uses to encapsulate. I know I can do it myself (eenee) but the chances of me getting around to it are low. I tell a bit of a lie, I remember with DS birth that I knew if I had bleeding that I could cut some of the placenta off and put it up against my gums and that could stop the excess bleeding, anyone else hear this??

And in other news.... I sent my first assignment in today...... Ahhhh wish me luck.

Ladybug do you think I should mention that I am quietly hoping to birth outside? Hoping for a nice clear spring night I haven't even mentioned it to my midwife

I'm going for placenta encapsulation... I know I wont eat it frozen. I tried to do raw liver that way and I just hardly ever seem to find the time to pull it out and cut some off. And I found the pieces had to be so small or else the hard frozen edges would cut my throat. In my post natal haze it just wont happen. But kudos to you if you do because I think it would be the far superior way health wise.

My Dad is mostly negative energy because he lacks empathy so it gets exhausting being around someone who can only see their own point of view. It will be good he's coming soon after our move actually because I can get him involved in practical jobs to help us set up and unpack and actually start the nesting that way and keep him busy.

3 more days till my 20 week scan! I have been feeling like you lady-bug, waiting to really kick into high gear till after that scan. It's our first scan so first time we'll actually see that we have a living baby in there. Then we're going to be sharing the news of the pregnancy on FB, pull out the baby dolls and books for the kids, start thinking of what we need to buy/organise (car seats!) etc. I'm looking forward to passing that milestone and moving onto the next phase

Hoti I feel that my wish to be outside is a knee jerk reaction to wanting to be as far removed from my last birth as possible. All I imagine is being on my own outside, whether that's for labour or the actual birth....

Meow not long til that scan!!!

I keep my pregnancies quiet for the same reason.... All birth conversations bore me in real life

Tegam!! I had some real doozy parenting moments in my pregnancy Am getting a teeny bit more chilled, but it gets undone after a not so good night. I'm planning a CBD hotel night away for us to do two days of city exploring next week, to give us all new scenery. We had a great cattle sale last week and if we can't use some for family rehab, what is it good for?? Outdoors sounds like a nice place to birth - like in the Orgasmic Birth DVD, on the deck!
Not back on my horse yet, but the osteo today was VERY happy with my pelvis and didn't freak out when I suggested I might give it a go next week! We decided it would actually be gentler than going surfing, so I'm going to have to do some planning to get a half hour ride in, somehow.
I had a touch of a cold and now have a cold sore, so I can't kiss my girl
I'm also feeling miffed with my fire brigade - only one member sms'd congratulations and my captain has been silent. I made my own announcement on our closed FB group page, which felt weird, but didn't want to rock up to the election meeting on Monday without making L's arrival known on some level. I feel it's the job of the leadership to put out a pager message, so as that wasn't done I took he FB job on myself :/ Never mind, apart from that I'm just lovin my girl and enjoying school hols!

Hi girls! Somehow I unsubscribed myself to this. Oh well, but a bit to catch up on.

Meow congrats on beating the hep A! Well done and how happy you must be!

36 weeks here now. It is all going to fast! But I suspect I shall at the very least make it to 40. Although the late 39's has been in my mind. I have been having lots of bitey BH, which has me wondering if this baby will decide to be cheeky and come early?

Ladybug, like you my last birth was a hbac and this time around I have been a little lost just because I know I can do it now so I haven't known that I have needed to focus on as much... I read Pam England's book 'Birthing from Within' last time and she gets you to work out what your question to yourself is. Last time I think mine was 'can I do it'. This time it may well be "do you want to do it' lol! Cos last time was a whole lot of hard work! I don't doubt my ability, but perhaps my will to do it again. But then I don't doubt my will to not have a cs. And I think I am moving past the early panic I had. I am settling into the knowledge that I just have to get on and do it now....

Nearly ready here. I need to go and get myself a new hose and need hubby to go do a test run of setting it up. My Mw forgot to leave the birth pool on Monday when she came to my blessing, so she is seeing me a tad earlier next week to drop it off and have a birth planning meeting. I will be 37+4.

My blessing was awesome, and I had the coolest henna done! It was lovely! And everyone else really enjoyed getting it done on them too. Lotsa fun.

I checked myself in the shower yesterday cos the BH were starting to really hurt. I think this little man may have bruised my cervix with his stretching and punching down there. I have dilated just a touch more than I was at 33 weeks when I had some other bitey bh's and checked cos I wasn't 100% sure at the time that I wasn't in labour. Anyway I am not surprised that I am more dilated, but I still will be surprised if I go early as the women in our family don't go early as a rule.

I will post some of my Mother Blessing pics for you girls too.

Great photos Bella- so beautiful! All the best for the coming days/weeks ahead... sounds like you're getting a fair bit of body readiness going on

We had a 20 week ultrasound today- our only scan this pregnancy so it was super exciting to see baby! Baby is doing great and all seems well. Placenta is anterior but moved away from my cervix. The kids came with us and the sonographer was the best we've had and it was such a great experience. Feel really happy and buoyed

Shhh... but we did find out! It is a secret IRL that we have found out at all and I'm nervous that people could stalk me on here so I hate to even admit it. We had a surprise for the other two and decided to change it up this time but we don't want to tell people till the birth.

So stoked that the scan was awesomely awesome.

How do you feel about finding out? Does it feel different? I always wondered whether i could hold out until birth but always found out at the 20 week scan.

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20

I'm so tempted to find out but also really don't want to. Not that I think I'll regret it but I have a weird idea in my head that if I find out it will be one sex and if I wait it will be the other (does that make sense lol) crazy woman here! And I know at birth I won't care what it is but I may before hand cause ill have too much time to think.... And yes I do know that the sex can't change it is what it's is and I love it so do I need to know..... I almost hate the fact that we get the choice once the 20week scan if over and I haven't found out ill be ok, I always want to know before the scan.

I brought a 2nd hand pram the other day. A strider dlx travel system. I am a baby wearer but think little tummy bug is going to be pulled in and out of a car up to 10 times a day between Kindy and school drop offs! So I got the capsule that fits into the pram. We'll see how much I use it. This also continues my record for having as many prams as children to my husbands horror. His reasoning is I baby wear and get the children walking as soon as they can so hardly ever use a pram. But hey then it will have great re sale value hehe. Also thinking of getting an ergo??? I'm a HAB fan.... Thoughts?

Also we are planning on going camping when tummy bug is between 0-2weeks old depending on when it arrives. It was already booked and I love the idea of early morning beach walks in my baby moon, we did the same when dd3 was 3 weeks old. And the pram came with a bassinet so I wouldn't have to take anything extra of it.

Sorry you lady's have to listen to my ramblings. I presume once we tell the kids on the 23rd then the whole world will know shortly after and I will be able to talk to people in real life.

I am getting worried about people reaction to number 5...... I know you are all nice but what would you like if you had a friend having her fifth?

Also we figured out that this one wont start school until Dd1 is in year 10! CRAZY

Please someone else have a ramble now

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #20

i was one of 5, as was my partner. i loved it growing up, and still do, so i would think it is great. just checked your ticker - both dh and i also had 10 year gaps from #1 to#5!

i have been loving the hab, but also have started using ergo occasionally when i just want something quick to put on. i dont really like the newborn insert, but can still wear her with a blanket and using one hand to support her. if i am wearing her for a long time, i prefer the hab for now but she hasn't cracked 5 kg yet. loved the ergo when my others got bigger.

i would love to get a great pram, but will prob just do with what i have. ;(

Hoti look on eBay or gum tree so many good 2nd hand ones!

I don't like having to support bubs while in a carrier hence my love of HABs. Will get hot fairly quickly too so may not want to have to worry about ergo inserts...... ?

    Hey there birthers!

Do I just jump in on the chat? I don't know the protocol lol...

I have been in my "Due In Sept" thread, but we have *just* decided this will be a HB. I have already been booked into the caseload midwives program at my local hospital and I've had a few appts, but I have been chatting with my MW from my last birth (HB but ended in hospital) and we have worked out a way to make a HB possible for us! I am beside myself with excitement!

My MW lives about 2.5 hours away, so my doula is going to come in handy, she is 15 mins down the road. Because MW is so far away my appts will be very spaced out, and I need to have Shared Care with a GP. My MW is medicare eligible, honestly it's the only way I could afford a HB. So I am looking for a HB friendly/supportive GP. I have one lead so far...

Looking forward to prepping for a HB again! I found my lists from last time and I am excited to get to put it to use this time (hopefully).
