Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh wow Ren!! Sounds like an amazing birth! How long was it all up? I remember you telling us about the long transition stages for your previous births so totally cool that it all passed so quickly this time (i love a short transition haha).
And what a champion midwife. good on her for finding a suitable back up at the 11th hour for you. That must of been a huge relief to know there was an option
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
You sound great Meow. So glad it all worked out for you and it sounds like the birth was amazing. Your making me excited for labour. Enjoy your little girl!!
Afm-Rant coming...If one more person asks me/messages me to see if the baby is here I'm going to lose my bloody head!! Why cant people get it, as if I wouldn't tell people we've had a baby?!?! So frustrating!!!!
Apart from that, had a midwife appointment this morning. Bubs is head down but definitely not engaged. What are people's thoughts, should I be trying to get her down further (squatting, walking etc) or does this mean she's not ready right now??
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Lady-bug: i reckon if you instead focus on position of bubs. spinning babies is awesome for tips etc. Most babies stay swimming even above the pelvis until labour: my last birth was like that and my second baby only engaged part way through. But what i found calming for me was that i had been working on optimal fetal positioning (especially with DD3 as DD2 was posterior until she flipped herself during labour lol).
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
I wouldn't worry ladybug as most 2nd,3rd.... Bubs don't engage until labour starts. But that's also easy for me to say seeing this one has already engaged. I do like knowing its where its got to end up.... In saying that the pressure the last few days isn't so nice :)
So maybe some gentle persuasive movement techniques will make you feel
Like you are 'helping' things...
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Anyone suggest a good tearjerker movie? All that comes to mind is beaches and that's not doing it for me. I don't like blood and guts (says thè ED nurse lol). But I need a good release. DH away again until
Wednesday, I'm shattered. Need to re group before he gets home so I can think of birthing.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Finding Neverland, The Lovely Bones, My Sister's Keeper, all are tear jerkers Tegam. Can't think of any more off the top of my head right now, but now I feel like watching a tear jerker movie too lol.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Thanks ladies, I'm not overly concerned at all, I think I'll just be conscious of it and attempt to make things more inviting for her to move down and if it doesn't do anything, well I haven't lost anything. Starting acupuncture tomorrow.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Dot face I just watched the lovely bones trailer, I nearly pee'd myself. Too scary but boy looks like a good teary one!!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh the movie itself isn't scary :) it's quite sad and the theme is a bit confronting. Have you seen finding neverland? I actually have that on dvd might just watch it myself. Makes me cry every time almost! Such a good film, too.
Lady-bug hope all goes well for you and everyone else :).
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh, I wouldn't watch The Lovely Bones or My Sister's Keeper at the moment. The Notebook? Sorry there is a bunch of emotional stuff at the moment Tegam and I hope your husband's return feels speedy xx
Lady bug- My baby wasn't engaged and she still had a spontaneous and quick labour. No harm doing positioning and crawling around getting baby to wriggle into a good spot though. I also find the time you spend doing those things can be just as healthy for your mind as you are setting the intention that you are ready. Spend some time inwards letting baby know that too.
ETA: Oh! Brokeback Mountain! Always leaves me sobbing. Such a beautiful love story.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Love your pics on the homebirth group!
My midwife is bringing the birth pool next week sooooooo excited :leap:
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh kellbell that's exciting for you :) I only ordered my liner last night, express post from Perth shouldn't take too long. I also go a belly cast kit, have never done one, think DH and I will have a good laugh trying to get one done. There was a lady that does them for you but at 4x the cost I'm happier to spend that money on something else.
After a sports carnival all day yesterday, today the big girls have a dance comp all day and then the biggest girl has an inter school sports day Monday :) when oh when can I just sit down:)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh my God how rude of me, I just sat down and read this page properly!
Congratulations meow!!!!! That's amazing! I'm pretty sure I saw your announcement on the Facebook homebirth page and wondered if it was you then thought nah lol. You will have an awesome story to tell the kids! Well done! So glad you got your homebirth in the end!
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Tegam - just make sure you use heaps of oil or lube or whatever, and trim your pubs low so they don't get caught when you do your cast. I learnt the hard way, even tho I knew that info, so I implore you to use lots on your girly bits! Lol!

Such a funny thing to read when you have no idea where the post is going....... ;)
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
I want to have a baby!!!! That is all.
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Oh lady bug. You have been so patient. It's not fair. Your birth space sounds nice. Mine is getting there but the four little monkeys are trashing the rest of thè house as I clean somewhere. Im just at the stage where I want to place 'clean/straightened up' within a few minute if I was going to have the MW or visitors over. But will that actually happen with four kids......?
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21
Does anyone want to share a pic of there birth spaces I need some inspiration :-)
