Hey ladies, i need some advice. Seeing so many of you have done further study i thought this was the best place to ask. Do i do uni in the 2nd semester or not? Study starts in late July and baby is due 22nd september. Both subjects i can pick from have two essays and an exam, both equal 9000 words. I am talking to my professor from this semester at 2pm, but he isn't running either course which is available to me next semester. But i thought he would be a good person to float the idea that i am having a baby and could the uni do anything to help me continue to study. If i could start the course work early and have it all over and done by by the time the baby came that doesn't seem so impossible. But given my history of having babes around 38weeks am i even cutting that plan too tight? Also I'm due to finish working at the end of july. Should i just enjoy a few quietish weeks before baby comes nesting….. My history would also make me be honest and say i get just a little tired and emotional with pre labour for a week or so before baby comes…… I am so undecided. If i don't study will i regret the extra 6 months it will add to the course at the end? If i do study will i resent having to study when i want to be in mumma mode? This is my last baby…..ever……

Please help me….what would you do?

Tegam- I would take the semester off. I took a couple of semesters off through my degree and it was SO worth it! Realistically you're probably only to get the first essay done before baby comes, unless they are super kind and give you all the course work up front and you work like a mad thing and get both essays done... which I don't think is a great idea either right before baby comes. And what will you do about the exam? They're super hard to get through if you have a newborn who is still feeding frequently. Does your uni offer summer school? I wish I'd cottoned on to summer school earlier as I finished up a couple of subjects in the end by doing them in the summer school semester and it felt so good not be wasting that time and making up for the other semesters I needed to take off and focus on the little ones.

Totally get HotI, my close friend is wanting an elective c/section for her first in a private hospital (because the rooms are so nice) because she doesn't want to deal with the pain of labour...little does she know. And we've tried to talk about it a few times and it just goes no where.

It's hard isn't it HotI . Every time I hear of someone going through our local public hospital to have their bubba, I find myself quietly hoping they have as good an experience as possible - because I certainly didn't! Is she a first time mum? I honestly don't know if I would have come to changing my thinking on birth, etc if I hadn't had such a crappy, disempowered first birth through the hospital. I hope she has a good experience .

Meow: Home visits are the best aren't they!? I have had every appointment at my home, and one at my midwife's home this pregnancy. We haven't really had an official birth plan appointment here, but we do cover things here and there.

I am such a weird place at the moment... I am so totally in denial about how close this birth is! And time is going so quickly this pregnancy with two other kidlets to keep me busy. I'm struggling to find the time to read the books I want to read and try and get myself into a good mindset of feeling ready for the birth. All my 'crunchy/home birth' friends have moved away, so I'm really missing having them here as my cheer squad this time. I'd love nothing more than to sit down with them with a cuppa and talk birth with them for hours.

Wow, a 2015 list already! That seems crazy! Mind you, I am completely in denial about how close I am to my due date... I went into a pregnancy app on my phone this morning, and it informed me there are only 4 weeks and 4 days till my EDD! That sure made my heart jump into my throat! I can't believe I'll be holding my little bubba in my arms so soon - surely I only found out I was pregnant the other day!

I had an appointment with my midwife two days ago - though it feels wrong calling them appointment somehow. More like a chat with a lovely friend, who also happens to check my blood pressure and have a feel of baby haha. Anyway, it had been 7 weeks since I had seen her (I saw my secondary midwife in between), and I had really missed her. We had a lovely chat about the birth, including a lot of the practical stuff... The birth pool (which I am hiring through the birth centre she is part of) will be delivered here after the next woman has her bubba (due July 4th). Then we'll have it here to have a practise run and iron out any glitches, etc. I can't wait till we have it here - then I feel like I can set up my birth space... and then it will all feel very, very real!
I am getting stuck into my reading now, and really trying to get into the right headspace for the birth. The pregnancy yoga class I have been going to (well, it's actually more of birthing yoga class - called Sacred Birth) is run by a doula, and so much of what we do there I am finding myself bringing into my thinking for the birth. I'm really starting to get excited, and finding myself visualising myself in labour, etc.

Anyway, that's where I'm at for now. Am I next in line on our list?

Seeing the midwife tomorrow, if these four week appointments are going by so quickly how will the two weekly ones feel???

It's the biggy birth plan one.... Was thinking of putting it off but have been having some lovely chats with DH and eenee. I'm feeling more prepared to talk about it all now. Will report back tomorrow afternoon.

Can't wait to hear how it goes! I've just started feeling more in the birthy zone too. Watched a couple of birth videos and read a birth story from a local woman who had the same MWs I have. Glad to hear you're ready to move into that phase

My MW doesn't seem to be mentioning a 'birth plan' meeting. Mustn't be the way they do things here... so I'll be adding it to the agenda We have a "home visit" meeting at 36 weeks (because most people don't have their prenatal appointments at home) with everyone there (primary and backup MW and my husband) but the idea seems to be checking I have all my supplies ready.

I didn't have a specific birth plan meeting. The plan just sort of evolved at each appointment.

Kinda off topic. I had a friend s baby shower recently. She is planning to birth at a main hospital with a poor record for respect of human rights. I am scared for her. She doesn't want to discuss birth at all, and I fear she will just be railroaded. I hope she just has a quick labour and can avoid them as much as possible.
