Hi all, I had my first appointment with my MW last week. I love her and the kids do, they keep asking when she will be back. DS did the cutest thing. MW gave us a book to borrow to read to the kids, so DS went and got our coffee table book, which is a book of photographs of babies and children from around the world and gave it to our MW

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22

    Hi Mama's,

I thought I should pop in and say Hi

Still pottering along here. All ready for baby now. I'm just hoping baby stays wombside until the 2nd of Jan when the Midwife arrives!

I've been losing my mucous plug since last week so I'm ready for any scenario really should Midwife not arrive. I feel at peace and ready for whatever comes my way.

I had my Blessingway on the weekend which was beautiful and has set my headspace in a great place!

I off for another ultrasound on Monday to re-check baby's size. I've been doing antenatal care through the local hospital and have been measuring 3-5cm ahead since 28 weeks so they want to keep an eye on babys size. I had a scan at 29 weeks after a pre-term labour scare and baby is apparently measuring in the 95% percentile. I'm not at all worried. My 2nd was 9lb 7oz so my feeling is that baby will follow that growth also. I must look into the research over the weekend.

I picked up the pool on the weekend and will be working on my birth space over the next few days. Everything has come around so quickly! I can't believe i'm 35 weeks on Friday! Time flies doesn't it!

    How are you going Freya?

Kasso - Aw that's great! Its a wonderful feeling having that connection with your Midwife, especially when it goes out to your family as well!

Wow Sara! That has gone so quick!! If your happy with the growth of bubs, how come you are having more scans? Will it change anything you do, or is it just nice to say hello to baby?

Many birth blessings love. I hope this birth is everything you dream it to be.

    I know! It's crazy!

I guess a little part of me is curious about what results of sizing will say and another part wants to see baby too.

It won't change anything I do as I won't be agreeing to induction or intervention of any kind.

I do have a feeling baby will still be measuring big and this may cause a few dramas but at the end of the day, my midwife (although not doing any AN care with me) is my primary carer and her and I will decide what to do with the information given from the ultrasound.

Sounds like your all over it. And you know, I always like to say hello to baby. I sometimes have felt guilty for having scans at 12 weeks etc and one for maddie at 32 to check placenta because of the perceived risks, especially since I knew I didn't technically really need them, and it was just to make hubby happy, but I did enjoy the time saying hello to my babies. I can't believe you are so close. I hope you are being treasured and loved.

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22

I like to think so I just hope that I still have the strength and confidence should I face any challenges!

Yeah its quite ironic actually.. theres an article floating around by Huffington Post I think about "ultrasound portraits" which talks about parents paying for ultrasounds just to see there baby. I felt a little guilty but I guess this isn't one of those but more a check on baby's size.

I've just tidied up the Birth Space this morning and when DP gets home I will get him to help me blow up the pool so I can check how much room we have left once the pool is set up. Also packed all baby's clothes etc into their drawer which totally made things real!!

Some days, especially now we're close, I still can't believe we're having another baby and he/she will be here soon! Crazy!!

Feeling very pre-labourish today. Was contracting regularly for 2 hours last night but stopped.

35 + 2 so if things do eventuate it means a hospital birth 2 hours from home.

Feeling at peace with whatever baby decides is the right time/place to come.

You can do it ilithia. Don't doubt yourself or your baby right now. You got this. Separate yourself from anyone who increases your doubt and draw in those people who give you strength and confidence. You can do this! So excited for you.
