my two cents are: i laboured for 29 hours, in a blowup birthing pool (sort of shaped like an oval) in my lounge room. It was amazing how the warmth of the water "got me thru" the contractions. I really was surprised i wasn't screaming for drugs. I expected the pool not to be comfy, i expected to get sore knees from the kneeling - but it was wonderful.

i didn't end up birthing in the pool (or at home), but i am glad i got to labour in water (and at home). The one thing i didn't do, was have a plan b. so i ended up having the "ambulance/hospital/emergency C-section" - being very tired and totally uninformed about the alternatives. So medical people i had never met before, were asking me questions "make a decision" - and i would have to say "what does that mean? what does that word mean" - i so wish i had explored the alternatives. I concentrated 100% on the home water birth - and had completely ignored any other sort of birth - this worked against me as it turned out - so i would suggest you explore multiple options - but hope you don't need any of the others.

i hope you get your home water birth, i wanted that so bad too.
