I agree with all the other posters but I also know how hard it is to say no when bully dr are talking about complications and the rest. You mentioned your GP, are you doing shared care at the moment? My GP was going to deliver my bub at the public hospital but we moved :-( Is that a possiblity? What about a private midwife or doula?
I would definetely be discussing this with the midwives and dr at your appointment to make sure that they know that this is really important to you. And who cares if they think your a trouble maker, I'm sure my midwife thought the about me - (she would only check me on the bed and I refused to get out of the shower to deliver :-) In the end I didn't need my midwife for support. I needed to be confident in my own ability to birth my babies and I had my hubby to support me as well.
