Don't really know. hehe. I would think there'd be colostrum or something there. If it was me I'd probably just offer a sleepy comfort feed now & then I know that there wasn't much there for DS, but he was still feeding to sleep at that stage, so wasn't feeding for the milk, which is probably why he didn't wean. I often wonder if DD would feed through a pregnancy coz she doesn't use feeding for comfort like that, so perhaps once the milk diminished she might give it away.
I don't really know what advice to give. I can only go by how I would feel if weaning happened for me. I'd still offer it and hope the interest picks up again when bub arrives.
But it sounds like you wouldn't mind the break between now & then. Perhaps just enjoy that break and see what happens
thanks for your help, he was feeding to sleep for ages but lately just seems to need a cuddle/spoon to sleep.
i think i might just leave it and enjoy the break so i'm nice and refreshed for bfing the newbie. i guess i'll just wait and see how ds reacts to me bfing and see if he wants some then.
Well done sweet!!!! Such a great achievement! I fed Iz to 11 months and had around 6 mths between her and James. My milk stayed around for quite a while and then changed to colostrum- I never had nothing in between. Since James was born, Izzy comes quite close and watches him feed and I have wondered if she remembers but she hasn't tried to feed. She has just started feeding her teddies and dolls though which is just too cute. Good luck hun!
well done! That is a great effort, you should be proud of yourself. I hope you enjoy the break because you may well have two little mouths to feed once the new baby is here!
It is great that your DS chose his own time, even if you would have been happy to keep going. FWIW that's the same age that my DS1 self-weaned also, and I think we both did an awesome job hun. So well done.
I thought my DS want to bf again when the baby arrived, but although he showed a lot of interest in me feeding DS2 he never showed any interest in bfing himself. But I have friends who's toddlers did, so it's certainly possible.
Enjoy this next phase of your relationship with your DS hun. It is still a wonderful experience being a mum!
