Selfish question - breast and weaning

    Hi All,

A very selfish question, does it matter if we wean off when our breast are full or when they are empty? ie, if our breasts are full and we wean, does it mean it will stay that shape?

I weaned DD off when my breasts are empty and now they are the most worse looking things ever.

I know that there are other things to worry about, but sometimes looking at the shape of my saggy lifeless breasts gets me quite upset.

    Thanks in advance

I weaned Matilda when my breasts were full and no difference, I weaned Jovie when my breasts had a go, and weren't as full and no difference.

It is actually a common misconception that bfing causes saggy boobs. Actually bfing doesn't have any effect on this at all - other than to give you bigger boobs while you are lactating. Age will do that to boobs all on it's own, but pg gives it a pretty good kick start. Women who have babies but never bf are no better off than mums who have bfed.

So the answer to your question is no, it doesn't matter at all.

ETA. You should see my horrible boobs, but I think of it as a badge of honour. They have done their job nourishing my two boys and now are showing that my body has created life. So I'll never be a lap dancer - oh well, I'll get over the disappointment!!

    My boobs are not horrible!

They are long, and the nipple can be reached by the baby even if i'm lying on my back. My boobs are flattish so that the nipple is hanging more downward, and is really accessible to the baby even when tiny. My nipples are darker and larger and stand up stiffer than they did before i fed DD, and DP loves the "compliment" when they stand to his touch.

Before i breastfed my nipples pointed at the clouds, where my head was. Now they point at my baby, where my heart is.

All I can say is that after pg, I just realized what a good bra is worth

I will never have perky boobs again (well, not without some surgon's help) but wearing the right bra, give's you the LOOK of perky boobs

Get yourself messured by a profesional and buy yourself some nice lacy bra's in the right size.

BTW, you are not selfish. Being aware of how you look is good, it's right.

    Thanks ladies.

I know my body will never go to back the way it was and I would not swap my DD for anything in the world =)

Just putting in my vote for a good bra afterwards. And even a good bra now! I've been pregnant, breastfeeding, pregnant, breastfeeding without a break (so no chance for deflation), and I'm a little curious as to what the end result will be - but I figure, squoosh myself into a fabulous bra and va va voom, I'll look good as new! Perhaps even better!

And I bet you'll look awesome too.

I made a similar topic in BFing support, so you're not the only one thinking it! Unfortunately our society glamourizes the look of a very young, almost prepubescant body in some cases. The truth is, there's no reason why softer breasts aren't beautiful as well.
