    Hi, SMCGT,

congratulations on your new darling! The good news is that, while old wives' tales abound about what you can and can't eat whildt breastfeeding, in fact, you can eat anything you wish, pretty much. Eat a normal diet. There's no evidence that cabbage causes wind.
Perhaps if your baby seems very unsettles and you have a family history (in either yours or your partner's side of teh family) of food allergies or intolerances, you might avoid those things. Sometimes you may notice baby reacts if you have eaten a particular thing, but by and large, eat what you normally eat! Breastfeeding is a normal part of life, and is not meant to be a penance whereby you must give up the things you love

    Warm Regards

Sarah, as Barb said, most of the time foods don't cause a problem. I just wanted to add that babies' tummies are more sensitive for the first 8 weeks or so, so if you do find something that upsets them you can probably re-introduce it after that. Jack couldn't tolerate garlic or any spices (I'm not talking hot either, just mild spice) in the first few weeks, but once he hit 8 weeks I could eat teven he hottest curry with no problem!
