I am with Kaydee, I don't plan on giving it to DD at least till 18 months if not two years. IMO it's too high in salt and we don't have any salt in her diet - I asked her Child Care not to give it to her and they gave it to her again today, which I am mighty cranky at!

Personally I don't see any nutritional value in giving it to her, therefore it's unnecessary for her diet at 9.5 months - I know I am in the minority as everyone around me gives it to their babies.

There is a yeast-free alternative to vegemite called 'vegespread' - available from the gluten-free brand 'Freedom Foods' - avail in the health section of Coles & Woolies. I personally would avoid vegemite and any of its comparatives at this early age as it is very high in salt and from personal experience it can make them go off healthier foods like veges etc- making them seem bland in comparison. But that's my experience! For this reason my DS2 wasn't allowed it til he turned 2!

    :-)
