My MIL didn't know with her last (6th) til she was 6 months. FIL was about to send her off to Jenny Craig to lose weight!!
When I had DD1 the lady next to me was 42 with a 20 year old daughter. She didn't know she was pregnant til she was in labour. She thought she was going through menopause! She had her 2nd little girl, April, the same day I had DD1.
A close friend knew she was pg. She went to the doc when she thought she was about 5 months. Everyone kept saying she was huge already, but she's a very small size 6, so noone really thought anything of it. Except that maybe she was a bit further along than she though.
So when she went to the doc they mesured her fundal height. Then looked again. Then asked a few more questions about dates. She thought she was about 5 months, but her measurements said she only had around 4 weeks to go!!!
So off for an emergency u/s..........Sorry hun, there is still 4 months to go................You have two, yes two! Babies in there!!!
Her boy/girl twins Nevaeh & Levi were born in Jan this year!

Thanks for the facebook add girls!
Laura, hope it works for you
Rhy, woohoo on full cloth! Sorry about the fighting with your ex, hope it resolves soon.
I'm so tired, I've slept but dont seem to be getting rest, if that makes sense. My sinuses are playing up too... Brendan seems better today though still coughing...
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
-
thanks girls, i know it just so weird, im just hoping its not a phantom pregnancy, im getting my self worked up so much that it will just be devastating if it is, can you feel kicking in phantom pregnancies?
oh ang go the HAWKS! today. my friend used to go out with buddy franklin at school, he came to our yr 11 dance! that was like 4 years ago though.
have a great weekend!
-
also just wondering if you girls know of anyone that has had blood tests come back negative and have been pregnant? how reliable are blood tests? i thought they were really really reliable but now im not sure
-
GO THE HAWKS, WE WON. WOO HOO. SUCK ON THAT CATS! LOL
Amy- i've heard a blood test is really accurate but only because it measures your hormones, nothing is 100% accurate, but if for example you were pregaz and the wee test come back neg, chances are the blood test would too as far as i know, because they both measure hormones. My fingers are crossed for you, just know whatever happens its meant to be that way. Good luck again.
-
I've never heard of anyone having a neg blood test. A blood test measures hormones yes, but detects the lowest amount of HCG, where as a HPT needs a certain amount of HCG to confirm.
-
thanks kirra, how great were the hawks! while i was watching it my tummy was moving like mad and we had people over, it was so hard not to tell any one, ofcourse i want to wait till i know whats happening for sure before i tell people. thats why i wasnt sure if i should say anything to you guys but i also needed advice and someone to talk to about it so you guys have been great.
well maddie is now in bed i can finally relax for the night and enjoy tonight, billys brother and girlfriend are coming round and she is a hair dresser so im getting my haircut yay!
have a good night girls!
-
ok, well lets just hope its positive, if not hten im definitely getting a scan to see, or maybe just get the doc to see if there is a heart beat. i just need to be certain lol.
-
Wow, she goes to bed early!! Brendan will wake from his nap soon but wont sleep until about 9pm! if any earlier he wakes through the night.
Woohoo for a haircut too!I want to get mine done...
-
wow i look up to you, maddie has always been a great sleeper, but i know i will get a devil of a child next time lol. maddie goes to bed 5.30 and wakes between 7 and 8 and has two sleeps during the day, morning one is 2 hours and afternoon is one hour.
i know a hair cut, havent had mine done since may and before that was about 18months lol. speak soon
-
Brendan used to be a great sleeper, would go down around 7:30pm and wake around 9am.... now it's the other way round 9pm and 7am wake He still has 2 naps during the day too. I tried taking one off him so he'd sleep longer at night but it doesn't work, actually it's worse! LOL
I only want my hair trimmed and re-styled. It's most of the way down my back now... so proud :D
-
Amy - I've got a feeling I've heard they can be negative. I think HCG goes up for a while, but then once the placenta starts working it goes down again???
Don't quote me on it though.
Maybe you should start a thread about other girls experiences.
-
I've done a little research and the HCG levels do level off after 12 weeks, but it stays higher than what the level at 6-8 wks is until after bubs is born. So it should detect it.
Hope that helps :)
-
*raises hand in the air*
Amy - before i found out i was pregnant i had a blood test which came back negative & i kepts getting negative POAS tests aswell until i was about 8 weeks & thats when i finally got a positive which i didnt believe at the time because of all the negatives i had & i never thought a blood test would be wrong... Looking back now i would have been 4wks pregnant when i had the blood test done so it should have shown up!
Good luck
-
Hi girls
Amy
Just thought I would add that there are two types of hcg tests a quantitative will give you an exact level and a qualitative will just give you a pos or neg so these can be wrong as with you hpt. So if you have a test make sure you get the quant then you will know for sure.
Hope this helps.
-
Hello Kristale! Good point, i forgot to mention that! (about the tests) lol...
I think i'm off to bed soon, getting tired!
-
if you are feeling kicking the blood test wont be wrong.
-
thanks girls and thanks kristale for hte tip, i think i understand but not 100% sure, so many letters in htere like hcp poas or something lol. im feeling really sick this morning, kinda like morning sickness but i think its just me being nervous about hte whole thing.
im just worried its gonig to come back negative and the doc will look at me and say your crazy! lol i know he wont do that but atm i feel crazy coz of 2 neg urine tests and 1 neg blood test in the past 3 months.
its such a pain not knowing.
Any way, how was everyones saturday night? i got my hair cut and i asked BIL's gf to only cut an inch off, well now my hair is shaulder length, im so angry, and i have a funeral on tuesday to go to and i wanted to look decent, i look so bad with short hair.
have a great day, were going for a walk into town today!
-
I wonder why they aren't sending you for a U/S Amy?
-
Amy - Maybe show up at Emergency & say 'something strange is going on with my tummy'. You might get an u/s straight away? Act a bit dumb, but tell them about the m/c. I dunno how you can be so patient about it!
Have you done any more hpts? They probably wouldn't work, but it might be worth a try? I dunno. I'd be going mental if I was you!
-
thats what i thought sally but ill just wait for hte blood test, what ever the result i am going for a scan no matter what. he did feel my tummy so maybe he felt a baby im not sure.
Skye- i am gonig mental, lol, im in such a bad mood one minute hten a great mood the next because i have no idea whether i was allowed a drink yesterday and if i should be careful of what i eat etc. im going insane. and hten today, no movement at all and bleeding really really heavily. i dont know what to do. billy keeps saying wait for hte blood test results before we go to hospital but i want to go. i think he thinks im overreacting.
-
if you are belleding and think you are pg, I would go to the hospital, at least they can confirm it! Please go....
-
ok i just rung billy and he is going ot take me to the hospital when he gets home, shame we have ot take mads with us, billys mum is at hte farm today so she cant have maddie.
thanks girls, i really appreciate all of your support.
-
Make sure you come tell us how you go!
My MIL did get her AF for 6 months with her last DS. Thats one of the reasons she didn't know til then.
The 30wk one is next door, but I don't think her pg is out in the open yet (still recovering from shock!) so I can't really ask if she had AF or not.
-
Good luck Amy, fingers are crossed for you.
The hawks were awesome, Charli was quiet at first...like no movement for the first 10 minutes of the game, despite how much noise we were all making and how loud DP was yelling at the TV.lol, thats prob why she wasnt moving, in shock thinking 'i'm not coming out to you crazy ppl'. Poor DP is so sore today, his knees are all red and graised, his ribs and sore, his hands are swollen and he's lost his voice, but he still enjoyed himself. He was on the floor in front of the tv yelling at it and punching the ground when things didnt go our way. lmao.
Lys loved it also, she was yelling at the TV saying 'get off the screen you stupid cats' and 'kill em' and 'kick em in the head'.... she really got into it. lmao
Hello to everyone else, hope you are all well.
-
hi girls,
No news.
they told me urien test was negative which i already new and they said it was very reliable... bulls**t. and the doc felt my tummy and said that there was nothing there, no womb, and the kicking feeling was probably my bowels. i highly doubt it because it was at the top of my tummy and i saw a kicking movemoent not a bowel movement! im so upset. i didnt even want another baby right now, i wanted one in 9 months or so, but i got my hopes up and so angry. if the kicking feeling keeps happening im forcing my doc to get me an u/s.
well hope your all well. speak soon x
-
Amy, thats really strange  What did they say about the bleeding? Did you mention your tummy growing?
-
 Amy - hope you sort it out soon. What ever it is. :)
-
Oh Amy i am so sorry, not to get your hopes up again but maybe you should see another doctor and talk about everything thats happening, if your not 100% convinced and happy it could be the answer, just remember we are always here to talk if you need us. :grouphug:
-
Sally- i had so many things to say and i knew i would forget to mention something and i forgot to mention my tummy growing. i told my doc the other day though so ill just see him on wednesday and try again.
he is a pretty good doc so should be understanding of how im feeling. i think emergency doctors just want ot get you out of there asap.
well im off to perth today, have a funeral to go to tomorrow.
hope you have all had a great long weekend.
Speak probably wednesday.
x
-
i was food shopping the other day and people were like staring at me. DP turned to me and told me and im like "yes i know they have been doing it for months" hes like "why" i said, "coz im young and pregnant"..
its sad really.. i mean i dont mind people looking but the staring and weird looks makes me want to punch them in the face. Imagine what it will be like once shes here! People are so quick to judge. mmmmmm
nevermind...
im doing ok :) got another appointment tomorrow! its getting close now :) only seen my middy 5 days ago! man this weather is heating up... makin me swell up! lol. i hope one day to see my ankles again...... lol
-
Hi all!!
Hollye- Don't worry about it dude you don't care when you have bub because they make every filthy look every rude comment worth it. I copped it big time cz most of the time I have my 4yr old sister with me  Let em stare.
Mum2maddieand1- Hope you get answers soon. Big  and wishing you a good weekend.
Well today we went to the dr as my little man is officially 4 months old today!! And my gorgeous little man is now 6.7kgs 66cm long and has a HC of 44cm! To think 3 weeks ago they were concerned. Im so happy!!
Unfortunately with this good news comes bad. I've been really sick lately for no good reason, vomiting, headaches, tired all the time, forgetful (to the point of having to ask if I've showered) so can anyone guess what the dr is suspecting...? That's right! Pregnancy! That'd be great except I'm a single mum already :o But I'm going for an ultrasound this afternoon cz there's a chance it could be something wrong with my ovaries or womb.
Personally I'm hoping pregnancy if they're my choices.
I have no idea what I'm gonna do. I've text XP (as he's the only person I've slept with in over a year) :tmi: but I don't expect an answer.
So I'm freaking out :crying:
-
oohh rhyb. so glad Aiden is growing nicley! just have your u/s darl before u start freaking out. It might just be a false alarm. Let me know how u go and good luck sweety xoxo
-
Hollye - Can you imagine the looks I got when I was 17?
-
I'm with Skye, i was 17 when i had lys and i got the dirtiest looks, i was working at the checkouts at kmart and one lady asked how old i was, when i told her she told me 'your a stupid girl'... imagine how i felt, first i wanted to cry and then i wanted to smash her face in. lol. It's not nice being judged but it happens and you get used to it, just know your prob gonna be a better mum than half the 30yr old mums out there who go to work f/t and leave there kids in childcare (no offence to those mums) so who the hell are they to judge, i know for a fact i am a better mum than 2 of my sisters and they are both older than me (3yr and 10yrs older). Just stick ya finger up at em or ask em what they r looking at, that'll teach em. lol
-
I still get people who think Jesse's my first if I leave the girls with Anth to do the shopping. The looks on their faces are priceless when I say 'yeah, I already have a 6 & 3 year old!'
A lady this morning at the deli at IGA started saying how Jesse is so cute, then went on to say but it all changes when they start talking.
I said I know, I've got 2 girls at home. She smiled & walked away. I don't even look that young any more. Well to have Jesse I guess I'm not.
-
Well the u/s operator told me nothing so now I have to wait over a week before I can see my doctor and find out whats going on. :(
I dunno Im funny I prefer to be a young mum. This way fingers crossed I get to see DS grow up (my eyesight is deteriorating so this is important to me) and I can play actively with him. I mean each to their own but people should keep their comments to themselves if it isn't what a gorgeous baby. :D
-
Hello ladies sorry been MIA I had my 21st and found us a house!
The young parent thing. It was never an issue for me. I never had a bad look, but it was prob because I took no notice. I was on happy hormones throughout my pg and know moron with a frown was going to bring me down.
Now days makes me laugh as they judge. It would be amazing to snoop in there lives and see what we could judge against them.
Everytime you get a look, or comment just laugh and think what they are hinding ;) At least you where your baby bump proud :D
-
rhyb - I hope it all works out for you hun. Preggers or not, you'll be ok. You should ring your doc & ask if you can get in sooner for your results.
As for being a young mum, My MIL had DH at 16. They are now 43 & 26 & the thing I love most about her is that she can still party! She will stay up drinking til dawn like the rest of us & we can talk to her about ANYTHING!
I can only hope my kids have the same view of me when they are older.
