    Hi Mia

We had a lap then a 8mth rest. Our first visit back we said we wanted to do IVF and the ob/gyn said if all the paperwork etc happened in a timely manner we'd be transferring in 6wks. The longest part of that was getting the police checks, which you only have to do if you live in Victoria (I think), this took me two weeks and my partner 4. I don't know why his took so much longer. Once we had them, it took 4wks to do a down regulated cycle, from start of spray to transfer.

We also had to retest sperm but it had been a couple of years since we'd had that done, and there were a couple of extra bloods for me. Pretty straightforward though.

    Hope this helps

    Good luck with it all!

Hi Mia, welcome to BB. I went through IVF/ICSI/PGD to fall pregnant with my daughter. We went through IVF for genetic reasons, not fertility though, so not everything I write will be the same for you.

After our first appointment with the specialist the first things we had to do were to go to an IVF information session, I had to have an ultrasound on my uterus, ovaries etc to make sure they looked ok, and we had to have an appointment with a geneticist to get the ok to go ahead with the PGD side of things. Once we had that done (which took about a month) I went back for another appointment with my specialist. At that appointment he went over what sort of cycle he wanted me to do. Because I had no fertility issues, my uterus looked fine, and my ovaries were poly-cystic (not the syndrome, the good sort of poly-cystic) I was able to do an antagonist cycle. He asked when my period was due and when I told him within the next few days he immediately rang his nurse to book an appointment for me to go and pick up the meds and for her to teach me what to do with them all. Three days later AF arrived and the next day I started my IVF cycle. So for me things happened really fast! It was great!

I would guess that some of your previous tests might be able to be used instead of getting them done again, but that might depend on how old they are too. It might also take longer if you have issues with fertility and have to do a long down regulated cycle.

I guess there are just so many variables to take into account that it's hard to predict how long the whole process might take. I sincerely hope that things go quickly and smoothly for you, and that you have some lovely news to tell us all soon

Hey nice to hear from u 
2 days to go woohoo! n everythn for u! How exciting!!
I cant wait to b at ur stage, im a little scared of both when they extract d eggs n also implantation. 1cos ive never been under local or any sort if anaesthetic n 2. Cos i think when they put d egg back theres no anaesthetic? Is it painful? Does dh get to b in there with u? I know for the extraction he doesnt which makes it scarier for me. Any advice wld b awesme.
The injections etc arent worrying me at all as ive done it before with iui.
How many eggies did u get put back? My fs told us we can only hav one put in max??
Also are u on any othr forum? I used to b on the ttc ocer 12mths one but cant seem to find one like dat but for ppl like us doin ivf. Sorry hav heaps of q's today.
    Im in sydney too, carlingford
