Hi iv been reading up on natural foods that might help implantation and i got a fair bit of feed back from google, it says it help with implantation if you eat the core of the pineapple? Has anyone heard of this or tried it?

Hi oneday, I have never heard of this but it certainly can't hurt to try. I could think of much worse things to eat in order to aid implantation. Have you looked at acupuncture? Lots of positive results there with a number of studies backing this up.

I researched it a bit as I had heard that the acids (I think, it was a while ago) help with uterine toning, in the same way as raspberry leaf does. This means that it can be beneficial both just prior to conception (for implantation) and prior to labour (for contractions). That said I couldn't find any hard evidence as is the way with most natural conception (and induction) ideas. My vote would be to try it, can't hurt!

Oh & it has to be fresh pineapple, the canning or drying process removes the necessary bits to make it work. Does that make sense?

Bring on the pineapple!!! Fresh is soooo much nicer anyway, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Wantaminime The Acupuncture IVF Support Clinic website is a good place to start with regards to checking out research. They have lots of abstracts from research papers on their website, which definitely makes for easier reading. Also if you google IVF + acupuncture + research you should come up with a bit.

HI again girls, i will be trying out the pineapple core, iv heard its not that nice to eat but who cares what ever might help im willing to try im a bit scared about acupuncture just because iv never tried it before and apart of my silly side always wonders what if it does damage? just me being silly. But i neeeeed this last frozen embryo to work otherwise i will be totally crushed and am so scared of the thought of everything that comes with another STIM cycle, i just never thought i might have to consider going there again for our 1st baby! stupid me thought we would definetly get a baby out of 4 embryo's. My transfer will most prob be august the 13th/14th (next fri or sat), so should i have acupuncture early next week then again on transfer day? xx

The timing of the acupuncture is quite important. You are right in that you will need 2 sessions, one directly before and one after. I had mine the morning of the transfer, I think it was about 2 hours prior and the second session was early the next morning. I think both sessions need to be within the 24hour period either side of the transfer. Not quite sure on that as it was a while ago. Do you have an acupuncturist who specialises in fertility? It might be worth having a chat to them and letting them know you are feeling a little apprehensive and discuss your concerns before you have the session, that way you will be more relaxed during the session.

I hope all goes well for you

    Hi Oneday,
Hope you don't mind me popping in here. Just wanted to add that I am a massive believer in the power of acupuncture! I had it with my last cycle (two months leading into cycle, plus 1 one egg pick up day, and 2 on transfer day) and we have a baby boy now. I will be starting again next week as we are trying for #2 - by ourselves for a bit. If no luck back for our frosties in Jan next year. Also, it has an amazing calming affect for me. I was worried about the needles too at first but trust me it doesn't hurt. I could feel htem, but it didn't hurt. Wishing you a great cycle and a !

Eat the whole pineapple - not just the core. Although the core is the important part, it tastes better when eating it with the softer flesh...and by the way, I've heard this too and did it...and am pregnant although who knows if the pineapple had anything to do with it. For that matter, I also did acupuncture before and after transfer. I would have stood on my head had someone told me it helps.

    Hey Ladies,

There are some interesting things here, I'll definitely have to try the pineapple. I already do acupuncture, and the fantastic thing is, my acupuncturist is just about to open a room at my FS clinic, so before and after the transfer, I will just have to go to the next room!

Im stimming at the moment, so fingers crossed for my next scan this friday to see if we can go ahead with egg pick up then double-fingers crossed there is something to transfer

    Hi OneDay and Ladies,
I was googling like a mad lady at work today as a result of craving pineapple for the past 3 days.
It's funny as I've never read/heard about pineapple assisting implantation.
As with many TTC suggestions there was contradicting view points on the use of pineapple whilst TTC'ing, some even suggesting early miscarriage. Tho, like many of you I'm willing to try anything.

Wishing OneDay all the best for this cycle for a bfp
