Yes, we were told the same thing, both in writing and verbally, by the embryologist who gave us the instructions for coming in for the transfer when we decided it was going ahead. It's the embies that are outside the body that don't like it. Once tehy've been t'/f'd you're good to go with deodorant and perfume again!
Anyone who's not sure, ring your clinic and check with them.
Oh, and really, they're not going to care at all if your legs look moisturised and smooth or hairy and scaly. They just want to get you pregnant!
I totally agree about doing absolutely anything to get pregnant!! I have previously just worn a tiny smudge of deodorant so as to not be offensive.
Im not so sure about the theory behind using nothing, as I can assure you that every nurse in that theatre is wearing deodorant, and probably washed their hair that day!! Lol! I know my FS wouldn't go without!!

To be honest for the sake of one day can you not just go without any deo? Im sure the docs dont care if you smell and I wouldnt want to do or use anything that could possibly hurt my little embie.

I have never heard a FS in Melbourne say embryos do not like light, in America the room is dimmed before transfer, as they believe it's detrimental to transfer in a bright room
they don't mention perfume or deo, though I think it's common sense not to overspray on fragrance, I really can't see how deodorant can affect an embryo implanting : ???
We were also told to DTD the night before transfer, how could u not wash ?
I'm not an FS, however the embies are in a catheder, they don't come in contact with anything but the uterus

my clinic had dimmed lights, but said there is no research to suggest bright lights etc do harm the embryos, but did say, what harm can it do to make the enviornment as close to the real thing as possible.
Plus the dim lights work well with the whole relaxed atmosphere thing

Interesting about the dimed lights. My FS doesn't dim the lights and we ended up with DD2.
Bengal - My FS likes us to DTD before (morning of) TF and after TF (evening of). Something to do with the sperm and contracting uterus helping the embyo implant or something.
Gosh, I have never been told not to wear smelly stuff either. I have had one EPU and 2 transfers. Hmmm...definately something to think about. I do know my best friend went through IVF 8 times and she was at the point of not using deodorant, chemical free shampoo and to be honest, she got a bit pongy. She didn't start up again until she was 6 months pg.
Its a weird one, I agree the nurses and FS wouldn't be going without deoderant etc in OT, but I went chemical free anyway.
Bengal- totally agree, the embryos aren't in contact with any part of our external body so deoderant should have no effect, I do think my transfers have all been in dimmed lighting, I though it was so they could see the US screen better.
N2l- I'm sure someone, somewhere has done that, I wonder if it worked!!
I doubt that the FS/lab techs wtc go without deodorant day in and day out, but there are plenty of perfume-free deodorants, soaps, bodywashes, etc to choose from.
Saffy : best of luck Hun with your transfer : a little oof topic, I listened to meditation CD's in the car prior to the last transfer, and ate mcdonalds fries, I read somewhere that that helped, hmm yum, oh and I ate pineapple pieces (from a tin)
