I'm 11.5 weeks pregnant from that cycle so was all good for me - ovulation stimulation though not IVF. Same basic principles though at least for this stage of things. It is so hard not to stress - bad enough when you're just doing "normal" baby making stuff but this intervention stuff is just the pits. Will keep fx for you.

But ovarian stim is only aiming for 1 or 2 follies rather than 5-15? I just read a paper that suggests the later you start, the fewer eggs, lower quality and lower pregnancy rates. Darn you Dr Google.

Dr Google is evil - stay away ;-)

The clinic uses the same philosophy though whether you are OS, IUI, IVF or ICSI. OS uses significantly lower levels than IVF/ICSI so as not to stimulate more follies. Timing is more to do with where your cycle is and what your own natural levels should be doing and when they should be doing them.

Either way, if you only got "real" AF this afternoon, then you're still not technically day 1 until tomorrow so if you are due to go in on Monday then you are still day 3, which is when they told you to start. FWIW, a gf now has a 2.5 year old from an ICSI cycle. She didn't start injections until day 5 cos she had to fly out to site after a death. I remember her being beside herself thinking she had missed that cycle, but her FS wasn't too stressed about it - apparently for good reason.

Damn this stuff. It shouldn't be so stressful for good people to have babies.

I fibbed about my AF date to my FS for my DD (IVF #1) and so I started TWO days later than I was supposed to (we decided to do IVF at the last minute after upteen rounds of other things). I got 10 eggs/5 fertilised and my DD was my fresh transfer. My clinic doesn't count your AF if you get it after 12 noon (ish) if that helps - but it's NOT an exact science, it's a rough timeline. As someone who has lived all the stress and worry, I promise you it will make NO difference at all.

My clinic was the same. I was told to count day 1 as the day I first had full flow BEFORE 12pm. I can certainly understand your stress though. I got my AF a day or two earlier than I expected for my first cycle and didn't have my meds yet either. Until I had those meds in my hand I was so worried that the cycle would be put off for a month.

    Best of luck for Monday

I was worried about that too, and because I'm lecturing so many classes I couldn't do another stim til July... I guess that's why I'm so keen to not have it cancelled.

FS just called, we start injections in the morning CD3 (which he says is Monday). Sigh, relief! I was so nervous waiting for that call I accidently hung up on him .

I was going to say the same thing about day 1 being the first day it is flowing ALL day - that was weird for me, cause I had always calculated it as the first day being the actual day bleeding started :-)

but you've worked it all out anyway, my clinic also works 7 days a week - I'm surprised there is no accounting for issues/concerns that may happen on the weekend for you...

anyway -- good luck! it will be fine!
just go with the flow - they will tell you what you need to know - when you need to know it :-)
