Is it possible for AMH levels to drop significantly in 10 months? So Stressed!!
Hi all,
I had an AMH test done in Oct 2010 as I wanted to know what my ovarian reserve was like. The result was great at 13. We were about to go to China for a few weeks possibly a few months, so we wanted to know if we still had some time before starting another round of IVF or if we had to start straight away. With that level my FS said we still had some time up our sleeves, and reminded us that we had no problem falling pg twice from one and only cycle we did in 2008. Anyway, 10 months have passed and I have been trying to tell DF that although my egg reserve was good 10 months ago, it doesn't mean it's good now. Well my worst fears have been realised when I took another test 3 weeks ago and it came back 'significantly lower' (the words of my IVF nurse) at 3.8!!!!!!! WTF???? Is this even possible? I know I'm 41 and all, but is it possible for the levels to drop THAT much?
Any success stories of low AMH level but successful pg would be really good right about now. I am so deflated and scared, I really thought the levels would drop a little but not that much. Even my FS said they would only drop a little. I've made an app. to see him next week but I feel beaten already
Thanks gorgeous I doubt it hun, they can only go down with age. I am so upset as I was on DF's back for months about how my eggs are literally 'frying', and he always said 'you'll be right, look what happened the first time round' . Yeah right. Always trust your gut instinct I say. I can already tell the FS will say just do a cycle now. I will be sh*t scared though as he did say that generally a low AMH result means low egg quality. Great. I asked the nurse if they have possibly made an error?????? She said it's unlikely, but I think for my piece of mind I will repeat the test.
Tash, no frosties here unfortunately We'll have to do a fully stimulated cycle. I really want to repeat the test, in case the've buggered up. The other thing that has ccured to me is, maybe they have buggered up the test in the first place 10 months ago and the result was a lot less than 13 so in that case this test is more in line with the first one if that makes sense??
