    treating corpus luteum during IVF?

Just had my 21 day scan where doctor confirmed that my suspected ovarian endometrioma is actually a corpus luteum. My plan to start another IVF cycle in October may have to be put on hold if the corpus luteum did not disappear by my day 2 scan

Has anyone out there had this experience of having corpus luteum? If yes, was it treated or just left as it is? How exactly will it interferes with the IVF treatment if it is not resolved? If treated, what is the regime of your treatment?

    TIA.

A corpus luteum is just the remains of the follicle after ovulation. If you fall pregnant, it's the corpus luteum that produces the initial hormones necessary to sustain the pregnancy. It's not something that needs to be treated, and it is in fact a good thing that you saw one! It simply means that you have ovulated, and is nothing to worry about at all.

Thank you BW for the info on corpus luteum. I was perplexed as to what I should do as I am already all for a FET in Oct. Had been googling all mornings since return from Perth yesterday night and information found was similar to what you said - nothing being mentioned about having to treat it during IVF though.

Hate to have to hold plan off again unless really necessary but FS said I need to go on a contraceptive pill for at least a month to try to clear off the corpus luteum if a day 2 scan still shows it being present. In fact, I was sent off home with a prescription of the pill to take until I return on my next cycle day 21 scan. Reason being that I am inconveniently residing out of Perth and commuting to Perth is only by means of air only so with the logistic reasons I was told it would be better of for me to take the pills first regardless of my day 2 condition. Have never had a contraceptive pill and and a little wary of the effects though they are quite commonly used.

Hope more could share their experience on this.
