help with a knitting pattern

ahoy!

So I am trying to knit Spock a cute little hat thinking it would be nice to take Spock home in it =). But I'm so lost and confused. I'm sure I followed the pattern 100% but I can not work out how it actually works...

so it is the 'hat with ears' in 'Lincraft Giggles Baby' (if anyone happens to have the pattern). if not, I took a photo =) sorry if its really hard to read, cause it is a photo of the page...

so, I don't understand how sewing the ends together would work...because then the ears would be sewn together...not on opp sides... I can understand if I made a 2nd one to match it and then sewed it together it would work...but no where does it say make 2, and then that would be MASSIVE for a newborn...

I just don't understand.. did I mess up, or is the pattern wrong??

what I have got.

I did have another photo of the picture in the pattern, if people need that one let me know and i'll up load it too...but it looks exactly like what i have, except as a hat (so basically I only have half of what the picture looks like.)

I'd love to help Teirae but I can't make anything out in the first link. The image is too small and when I try to enlarge it, it is all out of focus.

If the pattern is wrong, you could try googling for corrections or looking up the Lincraft website,

Is there any other way you could post the pattern for more clarity?

ETA: I had another squiz and I *think* I can make out that it does say to make 2
Middle column, 2nd part under tension information:

Hat
**** of *** (make 2)

Where stars indicate letters I can't make out!

If it would be massive for a newborn, does your tension work out?

Ahhh, I'd blame baby brain!
It takes you by surprise! I am still there even though my last preg was 2 years ago The only answer is to laugh at yourself!

Maybe you could try knitting another with a smaller needle and then you could have a newborn size and one for Spock to grow in to? Nothing wrong with that!

yea, even though it will be too big to use as soon as Spock is born, I will still use it as soon as this little ones head is big enough =P cause it looks pretty cosy. and I do have HEAPS of the wool =)
