    Do you have your partner's support? If you two can stand together on this, it might give you the courage to do things your way, no matter what you MIL thinks, if you are sure that your partner will support you on things. You might need to remind your partner that his commitment to you means that he needs to side with you and not his mum. He might need to ask his mum to back off a bit?

    totally agree with Nelle. speak to your partner before telling the MIL to back off. First get your partner on your side and see if he sees the things you do. Ask him to tell her to back off as then you won't be in wrong as much if you tell her to stick it. If he doesn't, then you need to tell her nicely and if that don't work and you know your partner is on your side, then tell her to stick it

    Could she be jealous of you?
