Well I can say with much conviction that I don't know that the urge ever goes. I have 5 beautiful kids - and if I could I would have more!

MY DH would not have more - and I am 41 now - and with being so sick with Immy I just wouldn't put my body or my family thru another pregnancy.

However, had I started earlier - I would definitley have had more. I love a big family - It's so special, busy and it is the BEST thing!

For now I will raise my babies and then watch them grow and the family extend. I feel blessed...

this may sound silly but I was wondering if it's a big difference going from 3to 4 I just want to make sure I'm ready as there's a difference between by accident and on purpose and I don't want to intentionaly get myself in crap either way I want it I guess I just worry it will be too hard even though I know it's worth it

    Advice help anything plz

    Smile Babies and more....

I wanted 4 originally but then when I had 4 I thought, I only have one boy and it would be nice for DS to have a brother - so decided on one more as we had just bought a KIA carnival and 5 kids would fit in the back - got Twin girls! So then we had to up the car to a Volkswagon caravelle and there were spare seats so I thought 'just one more' - why not - fits in the car - got another beautiful little girl who has been just adorable. That made 7!
    BUT
I never liked odd numbers and thought 8 would be a nice round even number - so now I'm having number 8 in August and it is a boy, which is nice.
    BUT
I was looking at the Chinese Lunar calendar the other day and daydreaming about more -so who knows. Hubby just accepts what comes along, he thinks I am a bit looney though I suspect, but I just love being a mum and love having a big family and they are all such great kids that it is really hard for me to say "no more - ever". I think maybe if this one is a caesar like the last one I'll stop because I dont do caesars well.

I'm 36 this year though so I cant go on forever.....

Mumeee... I have 6 children that keep me on my toes but DF wants another!! We can't have bubbas naturally because i had my tubes tied after number 5 so we did Ivf last time. Df want me to have 2 of our frozen embryoes transfered this time around again which would make it 8 if they both make it! Im so weird and scared and I don't know anyone that has 8 kids. People already look at me as if i have 10 heads with the 6 i have hehehe. People just don't understand how our family works and that it works really well. But this will be it we have to draw the line somewhere i think.

Mumof six - Once you get past 5, you dont hear anything you would not have already heard - ie it doesnt get any worse, if thats any relief. You only get the classics like "OMG are they all yours" or "You've got your hands full" or "Havent you got a TV" - we've all heard those I am sure. If you get twins then you get a whole new round of questions and comments which get really old really fast.
Honestly - some of the time it gets me down, some of the time I get angry and rather sarcastic, and other times I just dont care what anyone else thinks of says.
I do use humour a lot. And other times when people say 'are they all yours' I say 'no I do family daycare' or 'what are you crazy', just to avoid the ongoing conversation.

    I think 8 is a nice number.

That stupid TV comment. ARGH! I've heard it since I was a kid - when people would say it to mum and dad. I learnt early from my mum that sarcasm is actually the finest form of wit. LOL

"Oh yes, TVs are fine..... if your marriage is boring"

Even Phil gets in on the act with the snarkastic replies to his male friends. "You're just jealous of how much sex I get".

I love my little brood - and anyone who doesnt agree is more than welcome to have an opinion .. Just don't expect me to be polite about it when you decide its that important that apparently I must hear it.

With the 'dont you have a tv?' comment...i simply reply 'if you would prefer to watch tele, then your doing it all wrong'....that soon shuts em up !!!!!

I never gave a thought of how many kids I'd have. After 3 kids from the first marriage I thought if I find love again I'd have one or maybe 2 with him....which I did, one year after the other which was unintentional. After that we though no more, so he went and got the snip in Sept. 6 mths down the track...Id TWINs was conceived!!! Freaky or what!

We are definitely stopping after the twins, just can't fit anymore in the house and the car and yes, I'm sick of the sarcasm and the horrible jokes because it is so insensitive...definitely doing DH head in because the 2 little ones are so close and the 15 year old DD going through her teenage attitude readjustment...

Chin up Hobbes - having 7 kids is awesome and yeh I know the negative comments can be nasty but think of all the positives. We get more hugs per day than other people, more love, more fun and yeh its hard work sometimes but we would never swap it. My oldest boy is CP so has needs of a preschooler and when my baby was born I had 6 kids 8yo and under so life can be challenging but I love it! I am sure you will too. Big hugs to you.

The TV joke ..... my DH says, "Nah don't watch it - too much sex on!"

    Hey Halltribe
Thanx for the vote of confidence...you are right you know, there are lot's of positives in having so many kids, the joy in seeing them getting along is the best, just cracks me up when the 3 older ones plays well with the little ones...listening to their laughters.

I see you have more of a handful, must be hard sometimes It guess that's what we mothers need sometimes a big hug to say we are doing ok and doing a hell of a good job!
