Bad coffee - WWYD?

I am in a cafe and have been served a bad coffee. It's too strong and tastes burnt.

What do you do if you get a bad coffee? Do you say something? Ask for another one? Pay for it? Not pay for it? Walk out and not say anything? Never come back?

I've tried dumping sugar in it but it hasnt helped at all. If I ask for another one, do you think the barista spit in it?

I have asked for coffee to be replaced before due to burnt beans.

I'm a woose (sp) I would just walk out and never go back.

But depends I guess on whether it is a place you are going to frequent a lot or not. The one I walked out on was when we were on holidays (although is part of a chain) have never set foot in it again.

If its a McCafe then leave it. If its a proper cafe, say something.

I have sent coffe back twice for being undrinkable. I couldn't send the third one back even though it was still hideous. But yes I would send it back.

my husband regularly returns coffees and has also offered to teach them how to make it. Embarrassing much? But I agree with the others, send it back.

I would return it and ask for another one. It's good customer service from you as you are doing them a favour letting them know that your coffee is not drinkable. The fact the next one you got was just OK would prompt me not to return.

If its a regular place I visit then I would say something. If its a new place I prolly just wouldn't go back!

I did say something. I have a weaker coffee but it's still not great. Must be the beans.

I was just interested in what other people would do. Some days I just can't be bothered, or I'm not up to it, simple as it seems.

Sorry.. I work in MCafe, and I kind of take a little offense to this!!!! Personally I DO care if the coffee I make is good or not, and I also reckon we are pretty darn close to a "real" cafe. (biggest differece is that our machines ARE semi automatic, so we dont temper the coffee, but we do have to make sure our beans are fresh and our machines are clean so the coffee comes out at the best quality possible) Also if it was a McCafe, one of our biggest things we learn with customer service is to make sure our customers are happy and want to come back. I would much rather someone came and told me that they were unhappy so I could do my best to MAKE them happy rather than have them sit there and be unhappy and not say something. And that should go for any cafe, how do know to improve things if customers never tell you what your doing wrong??????

Fwiw, I worked as a barista whilst at uni, and I never once contemplated spitting in someones coffee, so hopefully there aren't too many people around that would actually do that!

My mum ran a cafe for 8 years & her coffee always got high praise. Its suprising how much a business relies on something so simple to get through each day.

I'd take it back, because if that were my business, I'd want to know that the coffee isn't up to scratch. Hopefully after a few more complaints they'll figure it out & get it right.
