When DD2 was born and in SCN I asked via Facebook if anyone was willing to go on my 'list' of people willing to watch DD1 (just turned 2) whilst I visited DD2. I think it's a good way to ask without putting someone on the spot and feeling like they have to say yes.

We have a small community and people post sometimes on the local page. I don't see a problem with it. You are not obligated to leave your kids with someone unsuitable but it is a good way to find out who is around and willing. I have babysat for a friend after seeing her post on the local page.

What is the danger of people knowing you are looking for a babysitter for a night?

I've done it a few times knowing that only close friends and family that know the boys well would say yes that way no individual feels obligated
