    Unhappy Funeral

    Hi,

This may sound a bit odd but i have never attended a funeral and have to go to one tomo
Although i did not know the deceased overly well (i only met him a handful of times) my DH is quite upset (it is his best mates grandfather who he grew up around, his best mates father is no longer with us so he was a role model during their teens and took on many fatherly roles) my DH has requested that out of respect to the family who we are alot closer to that i attend. I have no problem with this and have organised a sitter for DD but am a little worried as i am very emotional at the moment. Will it be unappropriate if i do get very upset? the thought of going brings tears to my eyes. The family is italian and quite large so there will be lots of ppl i dont know. Also is it still traditional to wear black if so, all black? been pg i have few clothes that fit and this may be a prob....should i go and buy something to wear.
As i said this may all sound silly to some of you but its bothering me.

As far as I know black is expected to be worn at Italian funerals. If you can't manage that go with grey, navy blue or dark brown.

All funerals are different though as I went to one two weeks ago and we were told not to wear black (special request by the deceased before she passed) so I wore a black skirt with a black top that had large colorful flowers on it and most people were quite colorful.

Try and go if you can manage it. I really missed having my partner with me on that day and would have done anything I could to ensure he was there.

All funerals are emotional but some ethnic groups tend to be a little more emotional than others and I think that Italian ones may be one of them. Because of that I don't think anyone will notice your tears and if they do they wont think anything of it.

Word of warning. If it is an open casket funeral don't go anywhere near the coffin. My aunt's funeral was and I was OK until I saw her lying there.... and then I lost it.

Hope everything goes ok for you today. funerals can be a sad event and no one will take a second look at you for crying, seeing Kris so upset is going to make you cry by itself so don't hold your emotions in, If you need me when you get home i'll be at mums *hugs* love to you and Kris thinking of you both lots today xoxoxoxox
