It really looks like you've been talking to a brick wall! Omg!! What a terrible terrible experience... You are definitely NOT overreacting, if anything you are being too polite!!

Wow... I really hope head office steps up and does something about this as a formal complaint is definitely warranted. I'd tell her where to go if she calls you again - she hasn't been listening to what you're saying and sounds so arrogant - I'd definitely be telling her NOT to contact you again and if she does then say something about misusing your private details and harassing you! I would though definitely say something about how wrong it was having her rock up unannounced - they need to know that is NOT okay or acceptable! And as for the early morning phone calls OMG i would go nuts! You have some patience there girl

Good luck and let us know what Avon say!!

It's like she's not even reading any of your texts, isn't it??

Very weird. I would definitely report her, as she gives Avon a bad name.

She must be close to get a huge incentive for recruiting another person or so!!! Seriously that is full on OTT and weird!!
That was my first thought too... she's one person away from a massive incentive / bonus.

I would be too scared to leave the house incase she jumps out from behind a tree or something

I agree with Tashy too, it seems to be that kind business matrix that likes the 'hard sell; - I attended a T'ware party a couple of years ago, put my name and number down as an attendee and was called for a good 6 months afterwards from one of the reps asking if I was interested in selling the goods. I'm talking one phonecall a week for 6 months. I stupidly made the mistake of asking for information to be sent to me. I ended up telling her after about 3-4 phonecalls that I wasn't interested... didn't matter. She called to check if I'd changed my mind. I saved her number in my phone as 'scary t'ware lady' so I knew when not to answer it... put a bad taste in my mouth...

That's what Sales companies and jobs are all about, I don't know what else you expected PZ??

My brother has the full on Sales and Business gene, and I don't at all. He started off as an Optus TV door to door dude, and then he was a top sales rep at several companies, and now he has his own business.

But yes that is what Sales as a career is all about.

I expected to be provided with information about becoming an Avon representative in a non-stalkerish, friendly manner. There are other ways to make a sale or recruit someone other than the hard-sell. I wonder how many others would be deterred by this approach? Surely I'm not alone in feeling it was all a bit out of line and could have been handled better?

thats waaay over the top! but if it is something you want to do i am SURE not everyone is like that. LOL just get the info you need from your friend and if it is something you like the idea of sign up through the person who signed your friend up.

PZ you can expect what you like really lol - just kidding with you here -

BUT to be blunt, this is what you can expect from many SALES companies, it is their CULTURE. Most are still hard-sell or whichever term you'd like to use. That is how they make money.

That rep, it is likely that that is her main source of income, so she probably is harassing you, to make more money, to pay her bills and what not. I know the higher up you go in Avon, you can get a car and all kinds of incentives.

    F**k!! That's crazy full on!!
At worst I would have expected a phone call at the time she came over wanting to arrange a time to meet and discuss!!
She is a psycho! And she knows where you live!! The one time you give out your address thinking nothing bad can possibly come of it... :/ lol!
I don't blame you for not wanting to leave the house I wouldn't either! Either that or dress like an old lady or something so she doesn't think it's you

Definitely not something I'm interested in if that's the way they roll. I just wanted something fun to do in my spare time, I'm so not sales driven lol!

I'm the same as you PZ.

I think eons ago Avon used to be a nice spare time thing, my Nan did it for many years back in the 1970's-80's. She would earn a nice bit of pocket money. Then time rolled on, and it wasn't worth her while anymore - I think she was still selling the same amount of product but not making anything on it.

I definitely think it is rude and inappropriate to turn up at somebody's house without even a courtesy call to check when would be best. I would not have expected that and I'm sure it would put many people off. Intimidating somebody into doing what is in your best interests regardless of what they express to you isn't cool to me, sales industry or not. Hope you're being left in peace now
