Eh, if they're having fun and want to buy stuff that way - not my cup of tea though! I wouldn't feel obliged to attend, let alone buy anything unless you want to.

A few of the girls in my social circle do the party thing while the boys come along to hang out, drink scotch and talk about bs...I usually wind up outside with the boys (sans the scotch atm though) as the conversation is usually more interesting
