We made everyone travel for our wedding, including us. We paid for most of the extras for bridesmaids and groomsmen, flower girls. We asked for no gifts. Some gave gifts, some gave money, some gave nothing. There were people that came that I know couldn't afford to give anything after travelling and having them there was so much more important to me than a gifts. My wedding 12yrs on was still the most amazing day of my life and worth every cent we paid

I love that... People had to travel so no gifts were expected. All the travel weddings we have been to have ended up costing us a fortune.

I used to loosely go by the idea of how much they are paying per head etc, but our friends are all going to reception centres where they pay $200 per head - well, I just don't have $400 lying around once a month!
