My nan, bless her, has gone blind in the last few years, but she still serves a proper pot of tea, with china cups and a milk jug every time I go there. And the teapot never gets washed. My brother put it in the sink with the dishes a few years ago and boy, was there dramaI love it- there is something ritualistic and comforting about serving tea like that.

But that's not old fashioned as in that's what I was brought up with and I'm set in my ways...that's old fashioned in that's something my Gran does that I like and decided to take on.

But I suspect that after hanging around with Australians for as long as you have, you already know that and just wanted to make the superman joke. 
I bet they still don't know how to program their VCR.
