WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
That's great news Fiona. There's no need to feel guilty, you've earned it! Hope you enjoy every minute and the new direction brings you lots of success and satisfaction!
Long story short. I've decided that instead of using the extra repayments that I made on the house before I met DP to pay for renovations, I will instead withdraw them to use as MY savings for whatever I want.
That means I can quit work and study instead and we could afford for me to hopefully take two years off. Looking at studying Public Policy because hey, might as well put the world to rights.
So instead of me staying in a job that I despise because I think I should work (because I've ALWAYS worked), I've decided ... stuff it, I'm going to concentrate on what makes me happy instead. You only live once.
And I also feel ripped off that my maternity leave with DD wasn't the chilled-out bliss I imagined it to be because for the first six months I was in serious pain (with SPD) and we were starting renovations.
So ... that is my big announcement for tonight. Going to start prioritising my own happiness from now on. I still feel a tad guilty and am looking for some validation as you can all probably tell!
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Congratulations!!! Doing something for you is wonderful. Happy you = happy home!
Hey Fionas,
Don't feel guilty. As the others have said happy you = happy family.
I have been undergoing a complete transformation for the past 18 months, which has cost the family heaps in $$$ but i have feel the best i have ever felt. My r'ship with DH is much better and is with the kids too.
I have lost 16kgs (gym fees, lite n easy fees), cut my hair, new sexier outifits, will be going to a Napoleon Perdis make up workshop on the 27th ($229), getting a boob job in October ($10k).
But i feel great. DH can do stuff like that too and he knows it but he puffs his money away (he smokes a lot and drinks) so he spends his money that way. I don't feel guilty at all. I don't smoke or drink, so i spend the equivalent on his smoking and drinking my way!
You need to take care of yourself and do things for yourself.. Good on you girl!

Good on you! You had to work really hard to make all of those extra repayments so you might as well use the money to make yourself happy and do something for you. It's inspiring
Good for you Fiona! You worked hard to make those extra repayments so you should use them as you wish. In the long run you are investing in you so it is a perfect way to spend the money.
