BW - Well happy to say I think the FSH has kicked in (have taken 2x200units so far). So the 10 units of Lucrin are not bothering me so much. Not sure whether I am mean't to be feeling anything already in my ovaries - have a warmness there and a light ache, like O cramping. Just now and again. Hope it is not too early to feel this... Have my first BT on Tuesday.

Redlady - thanks for the tip on CoQ10. I think I will leave it at 110 (60 in my Conceive Well and a 50 tab), rather than upping it. Sorry about your FS. I would not be happy with the replacement you described either. You are paying top $ for this and don't want to suffer those "what-if's". The little extra time may also give more time for the Menevit to kick in with DH's swimmers.

AFM - DH had an accident (will be ok), but had to go under a general anaesthetic for the second time in two weeks. He is currently on the anti-inflammatory Celebrex and painkiller Panadeine Forte. He also has the option of taking a strong painkiller called Tramadol. Through our MC investigations we have learned DH normally has excellent swimmers, but now I am really worried about what this will mean for our Egg p/u in less than two weeks time when he has to give sample...

    Hi ladies,

WTH Sorry to hear about your I hope he is feeling better soon. Sorry that you didn't feel to well whilst on the Lucrin I hope that now you are on FSH things will start to get easier. What day is pick up day? Cant be long

Redlay Sorry to hear that the menevit didn't work for your but glad you can move on and hopefully get your BFP with your first PICIS. I'm sorry to hear that your FS is going away I wouldn't be happy about it either.

AFM I am very frustrated at the moment. I have been going to acupuncture with TCM for approx 2 months and it hasn't done anything with my cycle. It appears that it is still 37 days long. I POAS today and got a BFP. AF feels like she is on the way anyway. I made an appointment for acupuncture at Rozelle but couldn't get in until mid October. I start 25mg of Clomid next cycle I hope that will bring my cycle to a normal 28 days and a BFP.

Hi WTH - Sorry to hear about the accident but good that your DH will be okay. It's awful timing after all you went through.

Don't know if painkillers have a bad effect on swimmers have you checked with you FS? Worst case there is the option to stop the cycle - after all the bad side-effects of the Lucrin that would obviously the last thing you'd like to do.

Hi Tam - Shame that the acupuncture didn't work, hopefully Clomid and going to Rozelle will change things.

Big downer ATM. My AF finished Fri/ Sat (light spotting). Sunday all clear. Then yesterday and today I have been lightly spotting with AF cramps. Today is Day 5 FSH, I did a BT this morning and am panicking that I am not responding well and my estrogen is low. I rang the clinic and they said what I expected - must wait for BT results. They said it may be a slow start, but that they doubted my FS would adjust the dosage and I would have to wait it out until a second BT this week. I am so worried this cycle will be cancelled due to under-stimulation....

WTH - I can understand your worry - I think I will be worrying about everything when i eventually get to start my PGD cycle. However, don't panic! Similar thing happened to me in my last cycle. Got more bleeding etc halfway into FSH jabbing. I didn't have any BT done at that time but few days later when i went for scan and BT - all was on track and I ended up pg with twins. I know the pregnancy itself didn't go well at all but didn't have anything to do with the weird AF.
I hope BT result is good - I am sure you will be fine!

Meredith D - you are a real sweetie - that is reassurance. I have been panicking because my OB recently picked up that I have an estrogen dip in my natural cycle which causes spotting a few days after AF. But he said if I did IVF they would take over my hormones and I would not need to worry about this. But it has still happened....

    Just a little update:

Well - it seems it was for the worse. My E2 levels are only 126 after 4 days on 200 units of Puregon. FS is upping it to 300. I hope it is not too late. Pretty upset about it all. That damn clock is ticking so fast!

Hi WTH, saw your response in the other thread as well, sorry to hear the journey so far is a little up and down...but the good news is that FS is picking this up quickly and adjusting it. As IVF is drug-controled cycle, I hope timing won't be a problem and with an increased dose you will soon catch up. It just means that you will be on puregon for a bit longer...

Thanks Cuddlepie. Yep, I am posting all over the shop trying to get some words of wisdom from anyone out there with a similar story (and maybe some encouragement).

I don't mind being on the Puregon and Lucrin for longer. I just want to grow some beautiful healthy eggies!

Thanks for looking out for me

Trust yourself that YOU CAN grow beautiful eggies!

The first cycle is always a bit of nerve-wrecking and from the FS point of view, it is also a 'test and try' cycle so that they know how your body gonna respond to the drugs. So I would say you are doing very well.

I will be checking on you for some good news in a few days time I am sure....

Just thought to come back to this thread to give you an update on DH's SCSA. Not very good news, DNA came back at 30%, although FS didn't seem to think its a major problem. But I have checked on the earlier conversation in this thread, seems >30 would fall into infertile category and no wonder our one and only pregnancy results in m/c (chromosonal abnormalty, similar like yours WTH).

FS suggested to take Menevit which I've already knew (thanks to your girls), I hope we will have better result like Tam's DH. He also asked DH to ejaculate 7 days leading up to EPU which I've already planned as well (thanks to my APist), the last thing he said was to hand-picked sperm in the process, I thought that is ICSI or PICSI, but he didn't specificly mention these terms, so I need to double check with him. It wasn't a good time to have a lengthy discussion as I was in a shop during lunch break.

Anyway, I have these mixed feelings after this result. On one hand, I am glad we found something wrong so we can deal with it, it also kind of answered the past loss. On the other, I am now more anxious about the upcoming cycle, seems will be a critical one for us which way to go.

I am really grateful now WTH that you have started this thread, just in time hun...

    Hi Cuddlepie

When DH and I were doing the MC Investigation Program with Sydney IVF we looked for anything which could be causing our chromosonal probs (aside from my glaringly obvious age). While waiting for DH's SCSA result, I was asked about his job and if he was exposed to daily poisons. As it happens, he does work around chemicals. We were immediately advised to get him on Menevit or BioAce Excel to help with antioxidents (we went for the latter because it complemented his multivitamins more). DH also drinks one cup of white tea a day (packed with antioxidents) and I have switched him on to this Nescafe "green" instant coffee which also has lots of antioxidents. Can I also suggest a minimum of 700-800 mg of folate for your DH? It is said to cut down on chromosonal abnormalties in swimmers, too. As it turns out, DH had good results with his SCSA test. But he was doing some of the above so maybe there is something useful here

Thank you so much WTH, those are great advice and i will check out the BioAce Excel, do you think it will be doubling up to have menevit as well as these?

DH has hardly taken any vitamins in the past (occassionally Swiss Men's Multi) and he thinks he is bullet proof, man oh man ...I will definitely dose him up with Folate as well...Also his work doesn't involve chemical but do have a lot of stress, on top of that, he has been studying part time as well. Gee, stressful work + study = killed swimmers...no wonder we are struggling....

So really, it is not unexplained infertility (we were labelled in that category so far), things happen for a reason!

Cuddlepie. My DH takes CoQ10, Cenovis Men's Multi, Folic Acid, B12 (we are vegetarian and it helps absorb the folate) and BioAce Excel. I stood the men's multi, BioAce and Menevit list of ingredients side by side, and found BioAce had more of what I needed. You just need to make sure your DH does not take too much selenium when mixing up his vitamins (and the daily maximum dose is written on the bottle). There were two things in the Menevit that were not in the BioAce (one being garlic, the other being something starting with "L" - sorry, cannot remember off the top of my head). All up, I liked the BioAce better IYKWIM

Thanks hun, I think when he finishes this bottle of Menevit, I will change it to BioAce...

Ah, now just remembered that my APist once told me that in IVF world, most docs play down on male factor unless sth. can't be ignored, and can't beleive that we didn't find this out until the 3rd cycle, well, better late than never though.

    Hi Cuddlepie,

When my DP had his second bad result my FS also said to take extra Folate (500mg)and extra Vitamin C (500mg) on top of taking the Menevit. For his second test he also had to ejaculate each day in the 7 days leading up to the test, it brought down his result from 31 to 28, so hopefully DH's your second test should also be better.

Hi WTH, Hope you're hanging in there. Thanks for mentioning white tea, I've actually got some at home, may try that one as well.

Thanks Red lady, I haven't got any Vitamin C but will get some for DH as well. We won't have another test, it will just have to go blind with it for the next stim cycle and fingers crossed for the best I guess.

About white tea, is it just normal black tea with milk or its a special kind? Is green tea ok?
