An HRT (hormone replacement treatment) cycle is when they put you on (usually) progynova and progesterone pessaries to replicate your ovarian function and create a pregnant 'state'. It means your ovaries don't actually do anything. So you need to keep taking them till 12-13 weeks when the placenta has taken over hormone production for the pregnancy.
