Antral follicle count

Hi just wondering if my antral follicle is ok my FS sent me for an U/S on a unmedicated natural cycle just to check everything is ok before we start our IVF and i had 22 follicles 2x 16mm and 1 at 19mm which will be the one that is ovulated i am 36 and always have higher than normal E2 which could be from all the follicles and my FSH was slightly high at 10.5 last November was is not indicative of my ovarian reserve the FS said ignore the FSH it means nothing for my body as i have heaps of follies i just wanted to know other ladies results of follicles when unmedicated is my result normal?

I'm not sure about the 22 follicles but the fact you have 3 larger ones shouldn't be too unusual as women can ovulate multiple eggs (hence may have fraternal twins etc) and women normally grow several follicles its just that normally one would dominate and the others wither away before O. While your FSH was highish its still not that high and the fact that you have multiple follicles is promising and FSH is just an indication anyway, and can fluctuate from month to month.

So are you doing a timed natural cycle this month? Can they check for ovulation so you can TTC naturally? If so best of luck

Dusty-we time it every month we use a CBFM and temp chart this was just a check to see how everything is since our PGD IVF cycle in November and why we cant fall pregnant naturally now when we have had no problems previously we have found out DH morphology is not great sydney ivf says it is normal where west mead ivf say the abnormal ones is a little high and could be the reason why we have not been able to get pregnant.

So we will try naturally this month while waiting for our ivf to start.

Good luck this month then! I hope you can skip all the IVF palaver. I know a few BB members with male IF issues whose results have improved over time so heres hoping this happens for you too.

Im interested what CD you where when you had your scan?

I have been having a Base Scan each month CD 1-3 , without meds, and in times that I have had a high follical count (like yours) they cancelled the IUI,
suggesting some may be cysts, which are no proplem, they do settle. They suggest I BD naturally and in the following month, my unmedicated
baseline scan went back to normal.

Hi Bangal,
I have had two unmedicated cycle antral follicle counts one on cycle day 7 which i had 14 follicles and the recent one was on day 9 with 22 follicles my FS said that is good and explains why my E2 is always a bit high i only ever have one real big one that will ovulate but there seems to be a few others not to far behind but not big enough to ovulate at the same time i am waiting for a phone call during the week to see how high my levels are this month.
I just hope that next month i have as many follicles without the high E2 my fingers are crossed.
