    Unhappy failed first cycle

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to this kind of thing but I have not had anyone to talk to. We have been ttc for 18months and have just finished our first cycle. First attempt 8 eggs, 2 fert but suffered from hyper-stimulation and had to freeze them. After the long wait and getting ready for FET on Sunday we were informed they had not survived the freeze thaw. I have not wanted to go to work and and quite upset. We have only finished our first one and it is already a long road. I also have endometriosis. When will it ever end??
Also wondering if there is anyone out there in Canberra going through the same thing.

Im so sorry Lauz, that really sucks. My little embryo survived thaw, was so worried wouldnt but i got my period early, time before that i m/c. I know its not the same, but i feel the whole first ivf cycle was a failure, a mess. Each time with failure i havent wanted to go back to work, have been really depressed and its just consumed me totally. Its just so unfair.
I also have endo- removed with lap last year but have lots of adhesions. DH also has poor sperm count/quality though, and they dont think the endo should be prob....i sometimes have my doubts...
Cant tell you when it will ever end and cant imagine how it would feel not to have any embryos to survive to thaw... Some of the girls on the LTTCAC thread have been through cycles and not ended with anything to transfer, maybe would be good for you to post to there too, they might have more answers. The whole ivf cycle is draining, maybe you need a cycle or so off, chat to your FS and ask for answers. Write a list of questions you have and get some answers. Id maybe give it another go if you are happy with your clinic, as long as they give you the answers you need.
Im sorry i cant be any more help. Most importantly, take some time off if you can and be with your partner, try de stress as much as possible. Best of luck. Hey and the long term trying to conceive and assisted conception thread might be good place to post too!

    Thanks Mel

We are starting our second IVF cycle in Sep as we have pretty much had a break with the FET cycle - felt helpless as I just had to wait until the thaw day.
My hus also has low sperm mot.
Sounds like you have been fighting an ongoing battle yourself. It is so good to finally find out we are not the only people trying to get on with everyday life with all of this other stuff going on. Thanks for the posting and I wish you luck with your adventures also.

Just another question Mel. My husband also has a prob with Variocele. What happens with the operation as he has not had one?
I have never talked to anyone with pretty much the same issues as us.

Ok, Lauz, DH had the surgical repair, so they make a cut in the groin area and basically tie off the varicose veins. You can feel where they have been tied off and the scar is about an inch long but has healed pretty quickly. His testicle feels so much better now, normal. Although i didnt really notice what they call the bag of worms "varicocele" testicle until DH came home from urologist, it feels fuller now. The same as the other testicle. The doc said was a large one and well posted in the other thread, but his sperm count has already doubled, and thats only 6 weeks after op, max results are 3 months post op, so will do another SA in 6 weeks. You can also have a different procedure done but dont know much about it. Im glad we decided to do it, we feel that anything that can make a difference is worth trying especially with the amt of money we are spending on ivf!
Hey and good luck with Sept. My emotions are crazy again with the drugs now!!!

Lauz, just want to say hi, and encourage you to come and join us in the LTTTC & AC buddies thread. The girls and guy (yes, we have one!) are wonderful and have been a great source of support to me.

Like you and Mel, my husband also has a varicocele. We had an attempt at an embolisation, where they enter a vein in the groin and travel through to the effected veins and black them. Unfortunately, DH has funny anatomy and they couldn't get there. We're still deciding whether we want to go for surgery or just leave it.

I had 26 eggs collected on my first cycle, and also hyperstimulated really badly. We didn't transfer then, but we put 4 embryos in the freezer. We had a FET cycle in June which was successful, but sadly miscarried in July. I will be going back to the FS tomorrow to find out where to from here.

Seems there's a lot of us in similar situations.

Lauz lots of positive thoughts your way! Our emybros did not surrvive the thaw on our 2nd cycle and it hit me hard. I went on my health check ramapage. We have been trying for 18mths and the all I can say is belive you will get there. After our 3rd cycle I has an feng shui consultant come around she advised me to create a space for what I wanted (baby) I already feel more content and we are going back for our 4th tryin October. Hang in there and lots of hugs your way
