    Fet - opinions please

    ladies,

Well i am about to have FET#2 with donated embryos this Thurs 10/4.
First question:- i always have the day off of transfer but generally always go back to work the next day, i have a very very stress free job, i work for a Chiropractor at the front desk so no heavy lifting - the heaviest thing i lift is an X-ray.lol. Do most of you go back to work the next day.

Second question: i have been on estrogen tablets for an extra week as last week my uterus lining was only 6.7mm and yesterday was 8.7mm so doctor is happy with that so transfer goes ahead, started progesterone pessaries this morning - does anyone know if the lining keeps thickening till transfer day? I am also doing acupuncture this month for the first time, had three sessions to date and will be having another session 1hrs prior to transfer and another session 1hr after transfer.

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

I've always resumed work the following day after a FET. I'm a teacher, so once again no heavy lifting, but it does mean I'm on my feet pretty much all day every day.

Afraid I can't help with the lining questions as my clinic have me doing semi-natural FET cycles so they don't actually check that aspect of things.

Good luck with your transfer, and I really hope you find the acupuncture helpful - it's been doing wonders for me.

    Hi there,

For my last 2 transfers I have actually had 2 days off work and not budged off the couch for those 2 days. i feel it worked for me, as I had 2 BFP's out of this approach.

I dont have a stessful job either, just sit and type all day writing process documents.

Good lucfk with it, I hope you get a BFP.

    Cheers... Fi

    Hi Lissie,

I cant help with the second question - sorry.

Re the first question, I took the day following my FET off. Mainly because the day of the FET was a 6hr round trip of travelling down and back to the clinic, and I just wanted to rest. I also had an acupuncture appointment sceduled and I did not want to the stress of having to rush to get there during work time - just in case i got caught up. I also had some pain on the day following the transfer, and looking back I'm really glad that I took the day off, even though my job is not physical and has only moderate stress. I'll certainly take the day (and my FS was happy to give me 2 day med cert to cover it) after my next FET transfer off as well.

Good luck with the transfer. Hope all goes well and you get a BFP

    Hi Lissie,

My understanding is that your lining will continue to thicken right through the rest of your cycle. The lining continues to build with both the oestrogen and progesterone and only starts degenerating (called the ischaemic phase) if and when there is no longer any hormones present in your body to maintain the lining.

This is the equivalent of your body stopping (in particular) progesterone production leading up to AF in a natural cycle, in the case where pregnancy hasn't occurred. And in your case (an artificial cycle) the ischaemic phase happens if and when you stop the hormones if you've had a BFN. It usually takes 1-2 days and then AF starts.

If implantation has occurred then your lining will continue to thicken even more as you body starts producing more progesterone and starts getting ready to hold the placenta!

HTH, and I hope that your ET tomorrow goes really well. I wish you lots of luck and hope the TWW goes as quickly as possible for you. I think after ET as long as you are taking things at the pace you feel comfortable with then everything will be fine!

    Good luck,

    Miss C

I've done both. I went back to work the next day & also had the entire 2ww off.

Personally, I doubt either helps. If the embryo is going to implant, it will whether you climb a mountain or relax on the beach.

Hope your tx went well today.

    Bat.
