congrats, shellybelly & good luck at your scan. : )
I chose to decline the extra testing suggested by the clinic. Like you I didn't feel the risk necessary, especially on a PGD embryo. I found their paperwork quite 'pushy' actually. All the best. Xx
Shelly I completely understand your hesitation, but so happy for you! Good luck for your 6 week scan!
As for me from our 6 blastocysts only 2 were given the all clear from the pgd testing. When the embryologist rang to give the results she also mentioned quite a few times that they strongly suggest further testing whilst your pregnant as pgd is only 98% accurate and officially not a diagnosis because they are only selecting a few cells. 98% is still very high odds I thought!!
We are hoping to do a frozen embryo transfer within a month.
Congratulations Shellybelly! I did the amniocentesis at 15 weeks I think it was. I found taking to the genetics councilor was very helpful & they gave you information to help make the decision yourself. In my case the chromosomal translocation could have resulted in a sever malformation. It was still a very tough decision for my husband & I. Best of luck.
Sorry I've not caught up on everything that's happening here. Sending my love & positive sticky vibes to everyone.
Congratulations ShellyBelly - goes to show it only takes one! Have you had your 6 wk scan yet? I also declined the maternal21 test by my clinic and OB since it was a PGD embryo and I'm young.
Snazzy - also congratulations on getting 2 PGD embryos - you have an excellent chance!
Joe - have you seen your FS yet? I hope they had some suggestions for you.
AFM I'm 12 weeks :-) have had 2 more bleeds but bub is doing very well. Have my NT scan this week, looking forward to it. Otherwise the usual tiredness & nausea which is very reassuring.
Not too long now for your transfer snazzy! Hope you are travelling well xx
So good to hear from you elarwood with such good news too! Hope your 12 week scan goes well. You have a little fighter in there
Yes I have seen my FS. Of course can't give any promises but he did say that he was very happy that we got 3 blasties to test last time so all is not lost. He brought up donor eggs (doesn't take away the pgd issue would just give us more eggs to play with) & donor sperm (DP has always said didn't want kids that weren't biologically his). FS said there were a few more things that we could try (different kind of fsh (initially gives a big boost to get things kicking along - can't remember the name - in the hope this will increase egg numbers) & using melatonin) but ultimately the decision to try again was completely up to us. Had to check how long we would have to wait for a pgd date as I was not willing to wait over 6 months just to try again. They said their latest pgd date was end of May & when we checked again they said mid June. Of course DP is away for work for most of June so it was looking to be more like July. Needless to say as long as my FS has hope, I am willing to give it 1 more go & then it will be completely over & out on this rollercoaster baby making ride. So in getting dates organised we managed to get epu booked for June 2 which is only days before DP is due to go away for 3-4 weeks. This would also mean if all my stars align favourably for me, transfer would be on my DD's 6th birthday! She so wants to be a big sister so this would be the ultimate birthday present for her. So first bloods tomorrow to check that I O'd this month & the joys of synarel start. So a busy 6 weeks or so ahead. Trying not to let it all get too much for me & to let my mind think too far down the line. Keeping things in perspective, what will be will be.
In other news I ran my first 10K race this past week & finally ran a sub 30 minute 5K run as well. Running has kept me sane these last couple of months
I have had a six week and a follow up 8 week scan and things seem to be going well so far, except the bone crushing tiredness, some nausea and now a hideous virus that has forced me to miss work all week. I was going to have the flu shot a few weeks ago but my FS asked me to wait till 10 weeks.
I am still in more than a little disbelief. Everyone said it only takes one, but after so many disappointments I kind of discounted that. I have never been so happy to be wrong! DP is still very cautious and is worried things might yet go astray, but it gives us both hope since we have never been this far before. So I'm 9 weeks now and see the OB in 1 1/2 weeks.
As for the testing, their paper work really freaked me out, so I spent ages on the net and found that you can do a blood test that is 99% accurate (Panorama). Unless my OB convinces me otherwise, I think I will go with that since it is not invasive and carries no risk. After everything that we have invested to get this far I don't care that its not covered by medicare etc. The only thing it doesn't seem to cover is spina bifida, but neither does CVS.
Elarwood, glad to hear things is the maternal21 test a CVS or amnio, I'm not familiar with that one?
Snazzy, 2/6 is a fantastic result! All the best with your transfer.
Joe, it is great that you have found something to help keep you sane with everything you have going on. I think a rollercoaster is a very accurate description! The waiting times for PGD are cruel, I had a 3 month wait, glad you have managed to sort something out.
Hi everyone!
I hope you are all doing well! Great news for some of you I see! :-) good luck for the rest of you still cycling. Just thought I would pop in to say hi and let you know that I delivered my beautiful little (very little-4 pound) bub 3 weeks ago. She is doing well and got to come home with me despite being so small... still not sure why she was so small ?IUGR. Just glad she got here safely. Wishing you all the very best on your own journeys. Xx
good luck emma, wishing you all the best. I did one cycle with elonva, worked quite well & I ended up with 11 collected. fingers crossed you get a good number to work with. xx
Congrats munchkin on the birth on your little girl. Hope it's all going well xx
Joe - you would have started your long down cycle by now. Did FS mention human growth hormone? I honestly think it helped me get stronger eggs along with new immune treatment. Good luck with your current cycle - I hope you get nice eggs! You certainly deserve it.
Hope you are still traveling well Shelley - how many weeks are you now?
AFM - I'm 17 weeks - all going well. Still in disbelief that I'm pregnant after all this time but certainly enjoying every day.
I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. Had a bit of a scare this week (had a little bleed) and despite myself I completely freaked out, started crying uncontrollably (at work so now everyone there knows). I had been pretty relaxed about the pregnancy till this, made me realise how much it means to me. I can't imagine how it has been for you Elarwood.
Got to the OB and he said it was fine, just the transition between 1st and 2nd trimesters and resultant changes in hormones and I had not long finished the crinone. Then he says he thinks I have hemochromatosis because my ferritin is over 500, so I'm waiting for those results now.
Also waiting for the Harmony blood test results. 12 week ultrasound next week. DP and I are crossing everything for luck.
So glad to hear all is going well Shellybelly! Hope your tests come back clear.
So here goes nothing! Start injections tomorrow. Absolutely sh## scared about this cycle. Last chance in this baby game. Have not had a great week leading up to this. Have been sick all last week. Only a stupid head cold but have had to dose up on panadol/nurofen for the massive head pains & even took a couple of days off work which is not like me at all. Dr said I needn't worry. Have had no energy to even head out for a walk either. Just want this so badly & just need my body to co-operate.
Have been on DHEA again & have this time thrown in melatonin (makes for great sleep ). Will start Gonal F & luveris from tomorrow. My fridge looks like a pharmacy! Lucky I'm not scared of needles too
Wishing you all the very best for your cycle Joe - you deserve a BFP with this one. I have everything crossed for healthy eggs. I love melatonin too! I used all those in my successful cycle & human growth hormone which I swear all helped. Will be thinking of you xx
Thanks andie & elarwood! First scan tomorrow...absolutely packing myself. Feeling really full in the belly so hoping that is a good sign & there are plenty of follies doing their thing!
