Kel - NO words to describe how sorry I am for you right now. I think I am doing it tough right now but what you are going through would destroy me. I am praying you can at least get over the OHSS as soon as possible. Such a horrible reminder of the pain and anguish this whole TTC brings. I just wish you could suffer the physical pain with at least some hope of a great outcome.
No words of wisdom other than I am sure you will pull yourself out of this and try again sometime soon
WTH - sounds like great results must have gone on today. A total of 3 blasts from 7 embies is FABULOUS. Presuming one is already on board and praying maybe 1 or 2 that also tested ok to freeze? I think you will be the first BFP in here this yr!
Sara - I get so confused by the whole medicare stuff sometimes. I think they make it so complex soimetimes just so there is loopholes they can avoid paying for! I do think its a bit harsh that your FS couldn't at least SAY the consult was unrelated - medicare aren't exactly going to ask!
CP - ah, I wish I could join WTH in an early BFP but truly not expecting anything. I think you and Sara will have to make up the hatrick.
Me - just biding my time. Really don't want another scan tomorrow as more than likely just going to create more anxiety. At least it will be cool at the clinic..! 43c for the 3rd day in a row is really killing me!!
Meredith - hun, not really sure what to say, just don't like you sounding so depressed, and sorry sweetie, but the hatrick is still yours I haven't even started yet, and while you can't see it at the moment I still have lots of hope for you for this cycle, so trying to sending you support.
Meredith, sending you big cyber s, I wish I have something profound to say to cheer you up...but all I can do is to be here and listen if you even what to vent. It is a hard road and we don't have to always put on that happy face, at least we have the liberty to show our true feelings in here....Keep cool in the heat hun, the weather is just unbelieable in Mel and Ade.
A big hi to everyone else, I am dying to hear from WTH how many on board!!!
CP: just saw your signature that FET is underway - how exiting ! I have no idea how a natural FET works, can you enlighten me?
Did the baywalk with a friend yesterday who is a really fast walker (she walked home from a party in Haberfield the middle on the week and she lives in Glebe!?) and we did 7km in 67min, she timed us and said we now need to make it in 65min next week, I am glad that I have walking group in between where I can go at a more leisurely speed.
Oh my goodness, Expect to walk for 2 hours next Monday then....
About FET, yeah, there is really not much to do, I am going to have a b/t and u/s on D10, which is tomorrow and monitor the lining and follies and then b/t every 2 days until they see a LH surge, Transfer will be 5 days after that because I have a blastcyst. I am estimating my LH surge (O) will be around D14/15. so Transfer will be around D19/20. And that's it...
Because there is minimum effort involved in natural cycle, I am just going to close my eyes let it slide along and TRYING not to focus on it too much, I hope when I open them I will see two lines, hehe!
Meredith - I your scan went well today. TTC, let alone IVF is such a draining experience. I've had a pretty full-on career, but it does not compare to the level of stress this all involves. Hope you have a great air conditioner at home and are getting some all-important sleep.
Kel - I wish I had the right words. You must be really crushed. Especially as the first (and hopefully only one needed) IVF just instills so much hope in us. You had such wonderful egg numbers. I know probably the last thing you want to think about is right now is another cycle... but one thing I have learned on this thread is the first cycle is very experimental. Your FS now really understands how your body will react. Can't wait to hear when you are feeling better again. What ever you choose to do next, us gals are here to encourage you and support you. Take care
Buliej and Lisa -
Sara and Cuddlepie - you were right (see below )
AFM - Well... we spent the night in Sydney In Cuddlepie's famous words, "I am PUPO". Turns out my two blasts biopsied yesterday were actually Grade 2. Trying not to focus on that - simply grateful to be in with a chance. We have one frozen, on which the second round of tests (Trisomy 15, 16 & 18) were inconclusive. This is because of a timing issue which makes it hard to read the slide. Two more blasts are being biopsied today, Graded fair and poor. Will find out the result for that this afternoon. Staying in Sydney was a great idea. I did not leave the clinic until 5.45 - peak hour Kent St. We stayed over the bridge and ate at a lovely Italian restaurant I have always wanted to try. Much better than battling traffic. So no accupuncture after transfer this time, just delicious food.
WTH: you are Pupo that is really brillant, so happy for you.
I am absolutely sure you made the right choice by staying in Sydney and seriously don't focus on the acupuncture, if you can do some today fine but don't really worry about it.
During my last cycle I read up on it, and the studies are inconclusive, they say there is conflicting evidence for it, the only thing they were certain about was that wmoen who did acupuncture were feeling more relaxed which for me is enough reason to do it.
With the implantation studies there is a German study which showed better implantation: what they did was acupuncture 25 minutes before and after ET in the clinic.
There was an american study doing exactly the same, only the acupuncture wasn't in the clinic but in another suburb, in this study, the implantation rates for the women who did acupunture were actually lower than the rates for the women who didn't and they said that the reason might have been that it was stressful to travel around between the clinic and the acupuncture place. So it was a really good idea to avoid the extra stress travelling would have caused.
WTH, you are PUPO I am so happy that you not only have 1 perfect embie on board now but also have another to freeze, I hope today's result is all good and then you will have more frozen embies for a sibling. You are now officially 2 and half weeks (if not more) pregnant!
The end result for this cycle based on the eggs collected seems brilliant, I wonder if it is the effect you've been taking DHEA? Maybe I should be on that too!
I'd go with nice food over AP everytime! Have a confession to make, I've been having a lapse on AP lately. Since my Apist is on materinity leave, I haven't been back yet. One is we are on the break, second my temp have been staying nice and high and I am just trying to save a $$$ before we are getting on the next cycle...but I totally agree with Sara's comment, don't worry about not going to AP, you can always go today if it is handy, but don't stree about it.
Thanks, Sara and Cuddlepie . Not worried about the AP. For some reason this time I just wasn't fussed to do it. You are right Sara - I saw the same study where you have to go 25 mins and 25 mins after transfer, which was not feasible for us. Also, in the Chinese studies, AP is part of the culture and much more affordable - the IVF women are going daily.
Yes, given my 9 normal mature eggs number (the 10th was damaged), getting 4 to biopsy was way more than I expected. I have done a few things differently, but I was told every cycle in itself is completely different. Maybe I just landed on a better month? Don't want to jump ahead of myself. Not PG yet...
But one difference I noticed this time was that my LH levels were naturally higher - floating just under "2", which is where the Clinic likes it. Last cycle it was around 0.4 before the Orgalutron. I have read other forums on women taking Pregnyl or Luveris for the same reason and noticed some had BFP's in their sigs, so I think there is something in this.

Sara - that's the weird thing. My LH levels were super-low on the failed-IVF cycle, so I requested Pregnyl for this cycle. But we didn't need it. But in between I had that very wacky natural cycle resulting in the 5-minute PG. In that cycle I had 5 days of +OPK's - my LH was really up last month. And on Day 1 of this current cycle my LH was naturally over 5. So maybe it was residual from last month? I think the high level was from taking maca-root, which I regretted at the time because I had decided it had messed up my O and contributed to the problem PG. I know you took Pregnyl towards the end of your last IVF cycle. If I have to go through a stim cycle again ( please no) I will definitely push for close LH monitoring from the start.
WTH - wow!!! 4 blasts good enough to biopsy from 7 embies is a fabulous result. Great of one that you already have the safety net of one frozen ( would you use with the inconclusove result?)
Hoping today brought you 1 or 2 more goodies to freeze.
Sounds like all is on track this time so expecting a BFP from you very soon
Thankyou all for being so kind to think of me. I am still a mental basket case and I am sure the heat isn't helping!
Scan today as expected. No change in lining which is what i anticipated but still guts me. Nothing more they can do and have left me to decide on ET or not. Will defnitely be proceeding ( as long as we have something) as I can't face not at least giving it a go. Plus they can't ever say I wouldn't get pg with thin lining but defnitely can't if i don't transfer.
My dilema right now is...... if we have more than one blast on Sun and they say one ( or more) is suitable for freezing then do i freeze the best, guaranteed frostie, knowing it might give me another chance on a (hopefully) better cycle, and put back anything else that may not make freeze or do i pick the strongest that might stick it out despite thin lining.
At this stage I am inclined to think i would request freezing any definite potential frostie so its perhaps not wasted on what seems to be a dud cycle but still give anything else the chance of a fresh transfer. What do you girls think?
Oh, almost forgot embie report. Day 3 today. All 13 still going ( none of the other 7 they were watching went anywhere). One already compacting, the others betwen 7-10 cells. Really much the same as last cycle so not getting excited as things began to fizzle in the next 2 days

All 13 between 7 and 10 cells sounds great. Really hope you get some frosties. I agree with you and would freeze the best guaranteed frosties. I don't know much about FET's but just listening to what CP says it sounds to me as if it is a much more natural way to do a transfer and from my gut feeling I would give it a much better chance than a transfer after a cycle especially if there is a problem like your lining - have you talked to your FS and what do they suggest?
