WTH - as mentioned in another thread - I'm so disappointed for you - I really felt good about your blast transfer. Let me know how your DHEA conversation goes.
WTH, I am so sorry... this is really a tough and scary road. I do think Sara raised a valid point regarding the timing after TR the biopsied embie...I hope you find some answers...
Will try and pop in later for more personals but really wanted to send WTH a HUGE hug.
I am so, so sorry, I realy can't believe it.
I know even the best looking embies sometimes just don't make it but gosh, what more can you do!
I would have tought a hatching blast would be the "premium" option for good implantation but not sure if they can be "over ready" IYKWIM. The hard part is, you will never know whether that embie just didn't stick or whether there might have been something else wrong with it. We probably all need to keep reminding ourselves that PGD only tests for a few abnormalities. Lots of other genetic issues can still go undetected.
How do any babies ever make it?!!
Its great that you have FS appt tomorrow as you'll really NEED those questions answered ASAP
Buliej - to answer your previous question re tests. Most of my tests were a fairly "standard" package for recurrent m/c plus full karyotyping for DH and I. I am sure there is a fairly standard set for infertility too. These were all done in Melbourne. The NK cell test has been specially designed by the specialist in Sydney and has to be done within 6hrs of taking blood - hence have to actually go there to do the test. PM me if you want to know details of the specialist. I found out about him through BB - there is lots of chatter about his great results in other threads.
Sara - sounds like you have all the right questions down. I don't think you can put to much weight into FSH levels. Mine have been done a few times and always fall within normal but never low enough to predict my good stim response. I also know that WTH has had really promising low levels yet failed to respond well at all to her first cycle.
CP - best of luck with tomorrows scan. Hoping you are getting pretty close to trigger now. Is it day 8 now? Yes, biopsy will be day 3 which is the only option in Melb. SIVF seem to only do day5. We had a bit of discussion about it all a few pages back in this thread.
WTH - just wanted to add quick thought for you. I know SIVF really only do Day5 biopsy but maybe it would be worth asking for day 3, mostly to see if those embies you are losing along the way are failing due to chromosome issues or just not surviving the culture media. I know it may not change the ultimate outcome but would give you more info to go with
I walked out of the clinic feeling depressed. I feel that my dream of having more eggs and embryos than my last two cycles was slightly fading away...1st cycle I've got 15 eggs and 2nd I've got 8. I think it will be lucky if I get 8 eggs for this cycle.
Its my Day 9 and scan showed 5 follicles on the right, but only 4 seems to be big enough to measure, and 7 on the left. The biggest one is 17mm. I know from history that I have a lot more follicles and this cycle it just doesn't seem as many, maybe its my body get used to the drug hence not responding as well as before.
Anyway, it might just fit into with the mood of the day - its DH's pop's funeral today.
Meredith, hope the embies keep growing and all the best for Wed TF.
Sara and WTH, hope you get most out of the FS appt.
Cuddlepie - try to remember it's the quality and not quantity...I know you need them to survive testing so this must be of little comfort, but there's a decent chance that 1 of them is a good one. Can I ask - have you done back-to-back IVF cycles or did you take a break from the drugs between cycles?
Sorry that you're not feeling too well today. It must be very hard that DH is away and such a sad occasion.
You know the scan doesn't sounds bad at all to me, if you get 8 eggs that would be a great result as it gives you a good chance of at least one really good one and maybe even some frosties. You're not doing PGD are you?
Try to hang in there, not long now - have you got an estimated date for EPU and when does DH come back?
Sara

Buliej, I have loooooong breaks between all my stim cycles, to the point that I feel guilty why I can't just like other people to get on with thing instead of wasting my precious time. 1st one did in April 07, last one was in Feb and then this one in Nov. You'd think that my body will spring back into shape and forget all the past event. No, they take memories. My weight gain proves that. I do understand quality than the quantity part, but quantity is part of my safty blanket in order to get that quality.
Thanks Sara. I don't think I will be able to do PGD with this number of eggs for this cycle. FS said will look and see but given current circumstance I don't think he will suggest for this cycle. I will just have to cross my fingers and toes that this time I will have better luck. I recalled both DH & I did genetic tests after Trisomy 22 was the reason for my last m/c, and result came back all ok, so I assume its random spontenous event. Well, let's hope so.
I will ask about my estimated EPU this afternoon when they call (I think it will be Sunday unless they want me to cook the eggs a bit longer) and DH will be back Friday so I think should be in time for that.
Cuddlepie - I hope it works out that you have some to transfer and they are fine. I have found myself being very angry with my body too for reasons relating to TTC - I know it's not a productive mindset but sometimes I can't help it. Good luck with the EPU - I hope DH is back by then.
I have a feeling I will be in the same boat as you as I've only ever gotten 4 eggs and thus won't be able to test for trisomy 15 (the cause of my m/c). Our approach may have to change after we do our genetic testing if we find out that the trisomy 15 was not a spontaneous occurrence. If they can't do genetic testing prior to transfer - when would they first be able to test (being optimistic - that you get a BFP) - would it not be until you can have an amnio (or CVS) - assuming you have more than 1 transferred and you end up preg with twins, have you asked how they test both babies? can they even do this?
WTH: Hope your appointment gave you some answers and helped to find a way forward.
Meredith: Thanks for you help with the questions, hope everythign goes well for your EPU tomorrow, will think of you.
Buliej: Thanks for your explanations, it really helped.
Cuddlepie: Perhaps have another think about PGD once you know the egg numbers, if it's eight, there shouldn't be a problem with doing it.
AFM: Just coming from appointment with my FS, we'll go with an antagonist cycle straight with my next period, which should be in 4 to 6 weeks.
Feeling a bit down at the moment, my FS pointed out that the better egg number that my scan showed in September 4 to 8 could have been an outlayer and the bad number with my last cycle (2) the normal thing, seriously hope that she is wrong.
Sara big , I hope your FS is wrong about the egg numbers but glad that you have decided the plan of attack for the new year. Did you get to ask all the questions you wrote down and are you happy with the decision?
Buliej, I found all these are so hard ATM, we need PGD due to our age and at the same time, due to our age, we have limited eggs...which way do we go? Hope you soon will find out the reason for Trisomy 15 is just a random luck...TBH, about your questions regarding CVS and testing, I haven't even contemplated that far yet but would love to know if anyone has answers.
Clinic just called, another tracking on Thursday which is what I expected and estimated EPU will be Sunday if all goes well. Seems that there are 7 follicles there and she said although not many in terms of size they are quite close together which is good. So best for me will be 7. Lucky 7 I hope. well, one thing I don't have to worry about is OHSS, E2 is 3645 which is consistant with number of follicles. More cooking to do for me...big sigh...
Late post today. Busy day and then worked late. Not so great given I'm still bit sore post EPU
Buliej - most trisomies especially the "lower" number eg 13, 15 16 etc will miscarry so would unlikely ever get to the point of testing via CVS, amnio. I will not be doing any further screening other than NT scan unless REALLY warranted as they all carry a risk of causing m/c. My FS agrees, saying that the majority of "abnormal" babies miscarry anyway and with my history of m/c, just wouldn't be worth the risk ( unless we got bad scan etc)
Sara - Glad you decided on antagonist cycle and praying it works well for you.
CP - At least all your follies are around the same size so all sjhould be "ripe" together. Hopefully thurs scan gives you a suprise with some extras!
WTH - thinking of you and hoping all went as well as can be expected at today's appt
Me - All 14 of our embies were suitable for biopsy today ! I am amazed!!. Nurse said the lab was going to be busy with my babies all day! ET at around 1pm tomorrow and will find out results of PGD testing when we get there. There's got to be some good ones out of 14 doesn't there?!
