    Hi Babymama
Welcome to our thread . I'm sure you will be pregnant in no time, these threads have a way of being last in first out!! When is your transfer? I can't really give you any numbers on how many will be affected by hubby's condition unfortunately that depends on how prevalent it is. If you google the condition and pgd you may find some more info. 20 is a great number to be working with though. At your age I don't think the drop of embryos should be too bad as your eggs are pretty fresh. I'm not sure if there are exact stats on drop off rates, I have never seen any, there are so many factors that can affect it. Sorry not much help am I
    Good luck.

Thanks Sunbeam! Its reassuring just to hear that 20 is a good start and I have time on my side I don't know what came over me, just got really nervous all of a sudden . Hubby has autosomal dominant condition so 50/50 chance. I guess I am just trying to jump the gun and guestimate how many will make it to biopsy. I'll know on Friday how many they'll freeze, so I'll just have to wait and see.

I am doing a frozen transfer cos we are doing PCR and CGH testing. So wont transfer until Jan or Feb depending on how long it takes my cycle to get back to normal. FS said something about the nasal spray trigger helping with that I think (cant be sure was sedated at the time). I'm kinda glad cos I'm still pretty thrown by the retrieval...not fun

Thanks for the encouragement and advice! I love this forum already

    Hi Babymama,
I've never heard of a nasal spray trigger so maybe it's something you dreamed under sedation there again it could be totally real!
Are the clinic updating you each day to how your embryos are doing or do you just have to wait till friday?
I think a FET is much better option given that huge egg haul I'd imagine you won't be feeling so great over the next few days. I was never surprised when I didn't fall pg on a fresh transfer as I always felt so ill after my collection.
Looks like there will be several of us doing transfers in Jan and Feb

babymama23 - i cant comment on your particular situation, but i can tell you how i went with my first pgd round so you can get an idea of the potential drop off rate. the reason i did pgd was bc i had done 5 stims cycles & 10 transfers with no luck, so we wanted to check out my embryos (i am in the 'unexplained' basket). i got 13 collected, 10 or 11 fertalised, 7 were availalbe for biopsy. out of those 7 biopsied, only 2 were chromosomally normal. i was told that this is what you would expect to see after collecting a batch of eggs. i was happy with this result as i have read (and learnt from the lovely ladies in this thread) that sometimes you can have nothing to transfer. like sunbeam mentioned, its different for everyone... you might be the lucky one that gets 10 normal embryos!
also, i have had the nasal spray trigger for one of my stim cycles before. the fs i was with at the time used it bc i got ohss the previous cycle and the nasal spray trigger is supposed to reduce the risk of ohss. i just used syranel, im assuming this is what your fs might have suggested? anyway, it worked fine and epu/recovery was fine too. i wish you the best of luck, let us know how you go.

sunbeam - hope you have recovered well and looking fwd to your xmas & new year break before your biopsies/transfer in the new year... xx

hi elle, minnie & everyone else.

Yay! I am feeling good about January so fingers crossed we all have a run of luck Unfortunately the nasal spray trigger (synarel) is very real (yuk!) but better than another bloody jab My FS seems to love the stuff, but I can't really remember why...must be something to do with being full of needles at the time
I was pretty unhappy on ER day, still not 100% and I can feel the meds still screwing me up (very cranky lady). But the FET will be on a completely natural cycle which I like the sound of...it also gives us time to do the CGH testing just in case.
I just had my day 3 call and I have 13x8 cell, 3x 6 cell and 2x2-3 cell embies. the scientist said I can expect 50% to make it to day 5 biopsy, which seems like a massive drop off Has anyone ever had a 2-3 cell day 3er make it to biopsy? Eeek bring on friday!
Sunbeam, I am starting to appreciate what a massive month you had getting 17 in the freezer! You must have had some huge positive karma owed to you
Andy, thanks for sharing your experience. How long did it take for you're chromasome testing (CGH?) to come back? I heard anything from 3 to 10 weeks!!

Thanks Minnie! They are biopsying on day 5 (friday) or 6 and will freeze whichever ones look good after that I think. So nerve racking :S
