Klinefelter Syndrome anyone out there whose DH has this and doing IVF?

Hi im a new member and was just wondering if there is anyone else out there whose DH may have Klinefelter Syndrome and had any success with IVF?

We are with SIVF and have just had cycle cancelled as not enough eggs, so along with the not knowing if my DH has any sperm we are now also dealing with the cancelled cycle and maybe low production of eggs, still very optimistic but very hard to stay positive all the time.

Thought id see if anyone else is going thru or has been thru IVF with Klinefelters.

Hi sorry my Dh doesnt have Klinefelter Syndrome but he does have Familiar Adenosis Polyposis. It is a genetic condition inherited from his mother. It means the kids could get cancer and it gets worse with each successive generation. There is a 50/50 chance the kids could be affected. We thought about having PGD where they select the healthy embryos to reimplant but they dont have a way to test it in the case of Dh genetic disorder. So thats why we are doing donor sperm.

I hope someone helps you out with this. Has your FS discussed maybe doing PGD or using sperm donor.

Hi yes FS has spoken to us about donor sperm but we haven't gone into
much detail as we are still hoping that we find a couple of swimmers when they do a biopsy.
Fingers crossed that we can even get to that stage it has been a long and very frustrating ride!
Not too sure what PGD is!

I think you need to have a certain number of posts before you can PM someone. I think it is 20 but could be wrong.

    Hi,

I have tried to work out how to PM someone, but because I am new here, I don't think I have that option.. My DH is also very highly likely to have Klinefelter syndrome (everything fits, we are just awaiting the genetic testing..) .. I was wondering if you might be able to give me some info about the successes you've heard about with people with Klinefelter's and fathering children through assisted technologies?

I'm really hoping to hear from you soon,

    Kindest regards,

    Zoe.

    hey zoe
yup you need to have a certain number of posts to be able to PM

Without going into too much personal details as it is a public form
    in general
Not every cell in your body has the same DNA make up
men who are mosaic, (have a combo of both XXY and XY cells) have the chance of their arm may be affect by Klinefelters, but their legs may not- that is why it is a syndrome.
There is a chance with mosaic men that they could still produce sperm. Even if its a tiny bit

I know of a melbourne clinic who 10 years ago were having success extracting sperm through a biopsy of klinefelters men and successfully using ISIC to fertalise eggs and get a successful pregnancy.
even if sperm count is really low- they still may be able to get sperm through this technique. After all it only takes one sperm!!! LOL
good luck and let us know how you go!!!!!
