Advice on taking progynova and provera when pregnant?

HI have just had ivf cycle and had 2 FET.
My doctor has put me on provera 2 tabs 4 x daily and progynova 2 tabs 4 x daily. I have the great 2ww but if it comes back with a BFP he wants me to continue taking it for 3 months. I have just read up about it and it says definately not to take this medication if you are pregnant!
Just wondering if anyone else out there has been on this medication when pregnant?

Yeah, it's worrying to read that, isn't it?

Did you do an HRT cycle? The medication is necessary to continue the pregnancy, if you have an HRT cycle, as your ovaries are not producing the necessary estrogen or progesterone.
It may also be that your ovaries are not producing enough of the hormones, if you are on some other kind of cycle.

You're going to have to take a leap of faith that your doctors know what they're doing and wouldn't prescribe drugs that will harm your baby. I know someone who went through an HRT FET cycle a while back and has a gorgeous, healthy baby now. And no doubt there are many others on BellyBelly who have taken the same drugs while pregnant with no apparent ill effects on their babies.

    Good luck with this cycle!

Ah, that's why you need it then.
An HRT (hormone replacement treatment) cycle is when they put you on (usually) progynova and progesterone pessaries to replicate your ovarian function and create a pregnant 'state'. It means your ovaries don't actually do anything. So you need to keep taking them till 12-13 weeks when the placenta has taken over hormone production for the pregnancy.

Blossom, I was on Provera and Progynova from our transfer through to the end of the first trimester, along with the Crinone for the TWW, and was switched over to the pessaries till the end of first tri as well.
I freaked out when I read the labels on the packets too, and as we were a few hundred kilometres away from the FS by the time I actually read them, I called him the next morning pretending that I had forgotten the dosage. It was all good, I was suppose to have it, and I have a 21 month old now.
Goodluck with the TWW, hope it brings you a positive result
