I just got the down low on the new laws.

1. A donor can only donate for up to 5 families. That is 5 females. A same sex couple is considered 2 females. So if 2 same sex couples were using the same donor then that only allows one more hetro couple to concieve from this same sperm.

2. Overseas sperm is allowed to be used in some clinics in NSW. Each clinic decides if it is using overseas sperm or not. IVF australia doesnt import but allows you to import personally and they can inseminate you. Fertility first in Hurstville does import sperm. So far overseas sperm is not under threat.

3. They are thinking of making recipents of sperm donors have a registerd that is linked to your birth certificate. So that an annotation is linked to it that you have concieved from sperm donor. But so far they are only thinking of it in VIC.

thats what I have found out yesterday.
