Anyone heard about too much oestrogen affecting blastocyst quality?
Hi there, my friend recently went through her first IVF cycle...they got a staggering 16 blastocysts! I have never heard of anyone getting so many. They all had to be frozen as she over-stimulated. So far they have had two failed transfers. Her FS now has told her they recommend only maybe another one or two transfers, and if no luck, to do a fresh stim cycle, as all the oestrogen in her body from the last cycle might have 'pickled' the eggs so to speak, can affect blastie quality. Anyone heard of this before?
Hyperstimulated on two cycles - got 4 and 7 blastocysts on each of them and only two from each cycle were good to transfer. The others failed to thaw, which was put down to the high E2 levels from hyperstimulating.
If her blasts are thawing ok, then I'd be inclined to continue... That said, mine would thaw the day before transfer and would often do ok initially, but wouldn't get to the 24 hour mark before falling over. If they are thawing and transferring straight away it would be hard to know which ones are ok and which ones aren't
Thanks for that BW. I know that one hasnt survived the thaw, but two others have and I think they were transferred pretty soon after. Not sure on that though. She is with SIVF
I wondered if the OHSS does affect the embryo quality. thanks Loula for posting your stats, makes me feel much better about trying with some of the 12 D3 frosties after this OHSS.
Seeing how they thaw after 24 hours seems like a good idea, as I am considering growing them on to 5 days and using best ones (I have done this before after OHSS, thawed 5 got 2 blasties). DH want to use D3 as DD was D3 frostie and figures must be better inside than out.
