Hey guys,
I had my ET this morning - one lovely emby went in there nice and snug.
My Dr told us to go and BD today and tomorrow - apparently it helps things along. I've heard contrary advice though, even the nurse told us to abstain as we were leaving the building. I told her what my Dr told me and she was a bit surprised but said if that is what he said, then we should just do it.
I have heard this too. On our last cycle for the first time after an ET DH and I DTD about the day after ET and we got our only real BFP. So I would say if you feel comfortable doing it then go for it.
our clinic advise no sex for about 12 hours, then to go about normal activity UNLESS you've had PGD and then none at all in the TWW. the only cycles where we've not done anything (and this was only cos of DH's work taking him away so there was no chance) we've not had success - the cycles where we've DTD after transfer we've had success (admittedly we've only had one birth from that - but there were many other issues - the BFP cycle this time around we were together for several days and DTD each day - and we have a seven week old now...)
do what you feel comfy with - no point pushing yourself to DTD if you're not comfy with the idea - but don't abstain just because of emby transfer. once that embryo is back inside you it's no different to any other person - and i'm pretty sure very few non-IVF couples intentionally abstain!
We didn't worry too much with our first transfer, which was frozen and a natural cycle... We did get a bit wary after that as we miscarried. When it came to our fresh transfer, I was mildly hyperstimulated so was still pretty sore and with the pessaries, the thought of sex was along the lines of "eeeewwwww!".
Our lack of sex after transfer hasn't hindered us - 4 pregnancies from 5 transfers. Like BG, only one birth, but we have a lot of other issues and it just isn't a matter of whether we had sex or not.
There is research papers out there that says sex increased the uterine blood flow and endorphins etc. helps the emby stick much better. The clinic nurse was really big on it she went to some international conference. You can do it within 24 hours before or after the ET apparently. I was so sore after the EPO and so bloated to comply with that fine details. LOL!
My DH kept saying, the nurse say so, we got to do it to suceed this time!!! I was so sore from bloating and constipation I wasn't really up to anything.
My Dh keeps reading that you can have sex after ET and I keeps saying see we can have sex. I dont think that after ET I want to have sex. I don't want to do anything to upset a potential pregnancy. And besides after reading the stories of ET I think I will be too sore and bloated.
Redlady.
ps...just had HSG and Im still bloated and uncomfortable the thought of sex is no thank you.
