Default sperm collection - getting the best sample possible

    hi there,
I know it has been asked before, but cannot find the thread. From what i can gather, to ensure the best semen sample, partners are asked to abstain for 2 days BEFORE egg pick up day........but also so as not be stale, not more than 5 days beforehand.

is this what you have been told. Melbourne IVF website is down at the moment so I cannot read about it.

    thanks !!

Runnermum, it sounds right for cases where sperm is normal.

We had a different protocol to follow for this last cycle because DH's sperm are crap. Daily ejaculations during stims, stopping two days before EPU. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have done anything for us at all. Motility was the same (complete crap), morphology was the same, and count was way down. There are a few other things DH has to do (vitamin C and folate), but we don't really expect to see the changes they make for another 3 months or so.
