    Acupuncture/TCM recommendations for PCOS

Hi, so I have decided that I may try natural therapies before doing IUI. I am 30 and have PCOS, been ttc for 3 years and have no other health issues except very irregular cycles from the PCOS. DH has good swimmers. I have had a HyCoSy, no blockages.

I have no idea when it comes to this. I do, however, have a number for a naturopath that has helped a few people I know get pregnant (even when IVF has failed)
So I guess I have a start, but need more info.

Do you see a naturopath AND have acupuncture?
What is involved with Chinese medicine?
What can I expect from either?
How much does it all cost?
Is it worth it for someone with PCOS?

If anyone can fill me in please

Hey chick I used acupuncture and tcm ( naturopath is diff) acupuncture was 80 per session and herbs around 55 per week. I have pco ( not the syndrome) on one ovary apparently and I conceived from that side this time.
I think you need to def find someone who specialises in fertility. Where are you based?

Hey Joeve I am in Melb south east. The naturopath I have been told to see does specialise in fertility, I think. Well I am guessing because she helped others get pregnant

What is better? TCM or Naturopath?

I am not sure either one is better than the other, they are just a bit different although they do use some similar herbs. I liked my person because she prescribed my herbs and also did my acupuncture. So she managed me well. But she's in Sydney so not much good to you!!!
Hopefully someone from melb will pop in with a recommendation for you xx

I went to Fertile Ground (Peter Slipper) for Acupuncture. He's in East Melbourne. I think it was $75 a session???? Something like that.

I also see Ruth Trickey in Fairfield as a Naturopath. She is great and a very well known "baby maker". I think she is about $75 a session too...

Thanks N2L, I googled and saw Fertile Ground. But they are in the city and I'm about an hour away I think it would be very hard trying to get there around work. Plus I hate driving in the city

I have come across DR Peter Gu in Oakley at the Acupuncture Clinic for infertility and IVF support. He seems to pop up a lot on my google search....

I used acupuncture for about 4 months prior to us conceiving DD, I can't say if it was just the metformin that I was on at the time or the combo of the metformin and the acupuncture that helped us to get DD. I can't recall how much it was but I thought the price was very reasonable.

During that time I had longer cycles than the 'normal' 28 days and when I did ovulate (and conceive DD) I o'd on day 37. I was charting at the time so I had track of things a lot better.

At the moment I am not charting but I am thinking I will definitely recommence acupuncture.

I saw a naturopath and conceived DD. I went back for number 2 but had no luck seeing a Naturopath. I also did accupuncture and chinese herbs with no success. Bear in mind that I only did both for a few months, not for like 12 months.

Louis Cali is in Berwick and my gf saw him & conceived. Note: she did IVF whilst seeing him & first attempt successful. He helped with her mental state and she stopped seeing him 12 weeks into her pg. Not sure if it helped the IVF or she would have been successful anyway.....

Bear in mind both are very different.... Good Luck

    Thanks ladies

Acupuncture goes with Chinese herbs and medicines, right?
I don't know which one to choose!

RhiChiChi, I saw a post in another forum whilst googling that mentioned Louis Cali. He is close too.......

Think I may try acupuncture first...........
