Hi girls,
2 questions really. First is what do you give up when you're in a cycle and secondly what do you give up when you begin the 2ww and why?
I know there're common ones like alcohol, coffee, soft cheese but wondered what I might inadvertantly be eating/drinking that's risky. I'm not completely strict with myself, I allow myself one coffee a day. . . maybe I shouldn't, but thanks in advance for any responses.
I am not entirely strict either...i switch to decaf, dont drink etc..the basic things...i try to use natural skin products etc where possible, i reduce the intensity of my usual exercise regime, and after an IVF transfer, stop yoga. I try to stay relaxed about things and not be too uptight, if thats at all possible!
good luck
The best rule of thumb is to treat your body as if it was already pregnant, if possible, for at least a month before undertaking a cycle in order to give it the best chance you can possibly have.
Remember certain toxins and chemicals can stay in your body for weeks and I read that for ova and sperm to completely regenerate themselves after damage from toxins (eg alcohol and nicotine) takes approx 3 months.
The hardest thing I found to give up was caffeine, but then you always have that little voice in the back of your head saying "well if this is going to help me get that long-awaited bub then surely it's worth it!" I have now been caffeine and alcohol free for 8 months and really it's not that bad.
thanks possum and boc. I swing between the two theories of, "just think of all those females who are out drinking/drugs/etc etc etc without knowing they're pregnant"
and "clearly I need every bit of help possible!"
Possum, never thought about skin products....hmmm, do you really think it can make a difference?
