Can anyone recommend an Acupuncturist in Sydney - preferably somewhere around Lane Cove or Circular Quay? This is my first attempt at IVF and I'm starting FSH tomorrow. Any advice would be welcome.
Paula - I started my sessions during the stim phase of the cycle (so at the same time I was having the FSH injections). I then had more frequent sessions towards the end of that phase, around epu. I then had two sessions for transfer - one before transfer, one after. Ideally, you would have two sessions on the same day as transfer, one before transfer, one after. Due to time constraints (my transfer was scheduled for 7am) I did one late in the evening of the day before transfer, then one immediately after. We still had success.
This was based on the Uni SA/Repromed study I referred to.

Hi Nixon,
I am currently seeing Louise Bourke in McMohan's Point. She is lovely and I was recommended to her by my sister-in-law who conceived naturally after 2 years of TTC and going to Louise for 4 months.
If this location suits you, let me know and I'll give you her details.
Thanks for that DTL - McMahon's suits me just fine. If you could pass me the details that would be great.
Thanks heaps.
Nix

I'm looking for reccomendations for an accupunturist in Brisbane (westside or inner city preferably). I'm planning to start my first IVF/ISCI cycle in September! Thanks to anyone who can help!
Hi BW,
Was it the clinic in Rozelle that you went to? Did you find the ladies very helpful?
I am booked to see them next week (starting ICSI the following week). I too want to do acupuncture right before the ET and straight after. I read about the "German protocol" and the study done with 160 IVF/ICSI patiences. The results were impressive, it boosted the success rates a bit and that alone, got me interested.
Thank you,
El
Yep, it was the clinic in Rozelle. The girls there are fantastic and have been such a great support to me through the whole wretched process. Because I have a drive of about an hour to get there, we'd generally only have acupuncture after embryo transfers.
We always did day five transfers, but for this fresh cycle we had to transfer early as we didn't get many embryos. We didn't move the acupuncture appointment, so it was two days after ET - but all has worked out!
Even if they did nothing to help the process work, they kept me calmer, and with my anxiety problems, it was well worth it!
BW
Hi El,
I go to the clinic in Rozelle as well, thanks for the tip from BW...I have so far done about 5 sessions and I found Leah (the lady who treats me) is delightful. I only just started my natural FET cycle, so I plan to do the same. Weekly appointments, then before and after the ET.
Good luck with your ICSI cycle El and we will compare notes later this month...![]()
Hi,
I was just wondering if you could tell me the price for the Rozelle Clinic. I have just started going to a fertility acupuncture specialist in Chatswood.
I pay $135 for the acupuncture and $130 for TCM a week. I find this a bit expensive but have never been to acupuncture b4 so have nothing to compare it to.
Ruth, which side of Brissy are you? I know a fantastic one who specialises in fertility in Cannon Hill called Jasmine Paris at Pinpoint Health centre. Also my bf is going to one on the south east side who lives in Forest Lake...
Tam, the one in Rozelle charge initial consultation $90 and $60 per session thereafter. TCM for a week is $35. The one in Chatswood do sounds a bit expensive.
Tam, I can't remember the price of an initial consultation at Rozelle (way too long ago!), but follow up appointments are $60. Any herbs that you may need are extra, I don't think I paid more than $90 if I needed herbs, but it's not something we did very often for me.
BW
Ruthy - I don't know if you have already found someone in Brissy... but in Indooroopilly, Beau at Positive Balance is fantastic! Highly recommended and a few women here use him. Good luck.
Thanks Christy and Oscaroscar for the reccomendations. I'm on the westside and was thinking about Beau at Indooroopilly as I found him on the web. I am tossing up between him and a clinic in Paddington. I will ask my IVF nurses as well if they have any recommendations.
Ruth sweet I go to beau and love him will still be doing so through the PG. He is reallly nice and supportive
Thanks every1 for your fast replies. I think I will change to Rozelle. The prices dont change at the place I'm going to its the same every week, I just cant afford that. I will keep you updated. I have already paid for a months worth of TCM as thats how they operate at this centre so it was $450 for themso I will have to finish this month at Chatswood and then try Rozelle.
