    Adenomyosis & infertility

Hi girls, I am new to this forum. After 3 years of TTC and unexplained fertility my doctor has diagnosed via MRI scan that I have Adenomyosis. I am 28 and have had 2 failed IUI's & my first failed IVF cycle this month . There doesn't seem to be much information about Adenmyosis and IVF failure and I was wondering if anyone else could share their experiences with the disease? I also have severe gluten intolerance which I believe is common with adenmyosis. Can anyone share any success stories with IVF? I am feeling pretty confused and desperate at the moment :-(

    Re: Adenomyosis & infertility

    Hi newgirl,
So sorry I haven't been able to reply yet (haven't been too well).
I have adenomyosis and stage 4 endo and each time I have become pregnant (3 times) was straight or shortly after a lap. You can do some googling to confirm my take on it but here it is:
Basically adeno (endometriosis in the womb muscle itself) is associated with second tri losses but only a slight percentage increase, still statistically significant unfortunately for us inveterate worriers. I am full term pregnant with IVF baby now, with adeno/endo remaining after my March 2014 lap.
Can I suggest investigating a lap to remove endo too? You cannot pick it up on a scan definitively. The only downside to a lap is that if your ovaries are encased (as both mine were) your response to IVF stims could be reduced drastically if they remove endo from the ovaries (as mine did). But, sometimes you need to take this risk because it might be the endo that is harming your eggs/implantation anyway. I know it's a bit of a mind twister but do some reading online and you'll get the gist, if you haven't already.
Also, as far as I know treatments to remove adeno don't really exist or aren't properly underway here.
Also, removing gluten from your diet or anything causing your body/digestion problems is a great idea. Look into dairy as well. And some people say red meat, but I kept a small amount of that in. I lowered caffeine and sugar too. And green tea (not jasmine) has some research behind it re reducing endo (a bit). Avoid estrogens and adopt the endo diet if you are hardcore.
GL newgirl. You are 28 - that is a great start! Still you need that lap I think to determine the status of your womb, tubes and ovaries re endo (which no matter what those doctors say impairs fertility). Perhaps you're already pregnant or something awesome.
    Wishing you all the best,
    WW

I'd recommend doing a 23and me genetic test to see what other factors are involved. You can order it over the Internet. It's a good idea for your partner to do it too. Then you can import the raw data from the test into the livewello website and get an integrated GP or specialist naturopath to help make a wellness plan and explain your genes.
