Repeat HSG test ttc #3?

Im certain my hsg (tube dye test) was the reason I conceived last time and Im wondering if I should get it done again just before we are ready to ttc again.
Has anyone else done this?
And do you think if I explain my situation to my new GP they will give me a referal for a private hsg? What sort of cost?

I would be surprised if they would order one before you start ttc mainly as there are risks associated with this and they wouldn't want to do it unneccessary at a patients request. Worth asking but.
I have had mine done under general anethetic so not actually a HSG as done laparoscopically.

Hi Salsa,

If you want one done I think you should advocate for yourself. I guess it comes down to working out if you want it done now or if you want to set a timeframe for TTC without one.

I had a HSG done about 9 months ago and it cost about $500. Most of the money wasn't reclaimable from medicare. Last month I had a lap where they did the dye thing again. The FS said you still get the 3 month benefit from the dye test even though I had it done not so long ago.

Hi Lisa.
Did you go see a GP first ? Or did you contact the hospital directly?
I had my first hsg done in another country and was given a referal by the GP to have it done privatly - was seen straight away and cost about $300.

Im not sure what to do here in VIC if I want another one - which I do, as I am having symtoms similar to last time. Also my age is a factor for me, and so thats why Im keen to get it done prior to a 6 months "lets see what happens without intervention".

I understand the biological clock! My alarm started clanging awhile ago.

I was referred for the HSG by my doctor. I am in Melbourne. The GP made the referral to the Epworth/Freemasons at the same time as the referral to the FS. I hadn't even heard of a HSG at that point, I was just presenting regularly to the doctor saying I think something is wrong as I'm not pregnant.

The GP referral was a good way really, because it short cut a few things by the time I got my FS appointment a few months later. I could start clomid with certainty that my tubes were open. Although I still ended up having a lap as the HSG doesn't cover everything.
